Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Good Evening!  Hope Adam is there or will be there soon, Claudia.  Wonder if Griffyn will remember him.

Hope you had a nice lunch, Barbara.  I'm not sure what I will do about the interview. I may decide not to do it, but I want to talk to the investigator before I decide.  He called me and left a message, but did not answer when I called back.  I need to know more about the case and what they plan to ask me to testify about, etc.  Really don't want to get dragged into something that will be a big hassle.

I did not sleep well again last night, but so far I'm not feeling too tired.  It was fairly cool on my walk.  One of my bookclub friends stopped by to loan me a book, and we ended up having a discussion about Jo Ann.  We are both concerned about her living alone, etc.  I think her sisters are with her now, and they will accompany her to the neurologist.  They are also supposed to be looking for a place for her to live in Colorado.  She admitted to me that she is "in a funk" and not up to selling the house, moving, etc.  Hoping her sisters will set her straight.

There was a Caregivers meeting today, and I was the only widow there.  Thinking about decreasing my participation in the meetings to once a month in the future.  I know several just dropped out completely, but I feel that I can help others going through a very difficult process.

After the meeting, I stopped by the local nursery that was having a special sale for the day.  Ended up with two plants and another bead necklace.  I have one multicolor and one blue.  This necklace is red -- strands of little beads made in Guatemala (I think).

Youngest DGS passed another computer certification (took the test), but "Army" DGS got a "D" in a needed class last term.  He is supposed to graduate in December, and he needs at least a "C" in the class, so he is re-taking that class in addition to the others.  Class starts next week.  While he got a grant or something for the other classes, he (I) had to pay for this one.  DD and I are pretty angry at him, but....  The others are so diligent about school, but he is very lackadaisical.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. A guy on the local e-bulletin board was asking for information about muzzleloaders.  I was wondering if R knows any websites or something that I could pass on, Claudia?

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Good afternoon..it is a bit cooler so I turned off the ac and have the ceiling fans going.

another day of intermittent pain but I am trying to ignore it..lol. Talked to both girls today..it is a no school, day for the kids..

Claudia..it's probably a good thing that you kenneled Griff..none of our family dogs seem to care who is around..Pepper is always seeking someone to hold her..lol.Enjoy your visit with Adam..he has not been home for a long time.

Linda..my middle brother was a pretty lazy student..my parents used to get so mad at him. It sounds as if your friend Joann is really struggling...that is tough when it happens.

Hope everyone is having a good day. 🤩🤩

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Glad Adam is home, Claudia.  I agree that taking Grif to the kennel is probably a good idea.  How did PT go?

Glad you were able to talk to the girls, Barbara.  It is a shame about the pain.  It must be difficult to deal with it coming back and back.  My shoulder is bothering me today -- I am pretty sure it is because that too heavy tote digging into my shoulder. Definitely need a different small carry-on before my next trip.

I had my exercise classes this morning and then went to the gym.  I guess I am lucky nothing else besides my shoulder is hurting and that isn't too bad..

I have not heard back from the lawyers office, but yesterday I left a message saying that I need to know a lot more information before agreeing to the interview, and will want to have it elsewhere if I do agree.

It was cooler here today, but still plenty warm.  I saw my next door neighbor (man) at the gym, and he asked about my trip and where I had seen the newspaper article.  That was nice.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Linda, R suggested he search topics like muzzleloading for beginners and general muzzleloading info. I see there are some muzzleloading clubs in AZ. There's also the National muzzleloader rifle association. NMLRA dot com.

We met my sister for lunch at Plaza so she could see Adam before heading o a meeting.

Afterwards R had his acupuncture appointment then saw his doctor about his foot. She wants x-rays. It doesn't seen to be gout given the location of the pain. We'll get that done next week she he has another appointment at the VA medical center. He's already scheduled for the podiatrist next month. Tomorrow R gets his flu shot.

My MRI results were good which is a relief. The last thing I wanted was preventive rotator cuff surgery. I continue pt and go back in a month.

Sorry about the intermittent pain, Barbara. It's difficult to deal with. So nice you got to talk to both girls today.

My arm and shoulder are achy today. Probably it's due to the colder damp weather.

If Adam was staying longer we could have worked through it with Griffyn. Given Adam's only here till Monday we thought time together important since he''ll be in and out meeting up with friends.I

Linda, a backpack might help with the shoulder issue. I know Lug for instance has several bags tha,r are backpacks or convert to backpacks.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Good Afternoon!  Lovely day here.  The Alzheier's Walk went well, but my hospice pateint's son canceled since she didn't sleep well last night.  Neither did I, but.....  Certainly taking me time to get back to "normal".

R sure has lots of appointments, Claudia.  Hope they can find something to help the foot pain.  Glad you don't need any rotator cuff surgery.  Glad your sister could see Adam.  I didn't realize that his visit would be so brief.

Thanks again for the muzzleloader information.  I am looking for a bag that I can put on top of my "checked bag" but has rollers when I use it alone.  Thinking of one of those "under the seat" bags, and their are lots of options.  Some sound good until I read reviews saying the wheels fall off -- yikes!   I have never had very good luck with backpacks (not sure why), but I guess a small backpack would be a good substitute for a purse when traveling.

As I mentioned on the other thread, while looking for a blanket, I discovered I have way too many linens, so that is another project for me. Starting late with the laundry and financial review. I think coming back from the trip made me more aware that I have stuff that I just don't use much/ever.  Time to donate.

Also mentioned on the other thread that I found a dog that is pulling my heartstrings.  He was brought to the Alzheimer's Walk by DH's hospice nurse for most of the time.  She volunteers for the animal shelter.  It was love at first sight for me, which is rare.  Unfortunately, I just don't feel up to the responsibility of a dog -- I know the dog would become a huge priority for me, and I need to work on myself some more before taking on that sort of responsibility.

Hope you are feeling better today, Barbara, and both of you have a nice evening.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Good afternoon...I ended up taking a little pain pill and resting for a bit and right now I feel good.  I spent some time talking to my brother and sil about my aunts funeral service that they sent to I. Iowa on weds and Thursday.

nothing at all exciting here..V is watching football. Lol.

Linda..it sounds like it will take a bit before you get back to a normal sleep cycle...you keep yourself active and I think that would help. Too bad your hospice patient cancelled..I know how much you enjoy that.  I have a wheeling under the seat bag that I use ..it can be put on a larger suitcase..I have had it for several years and it is holding up well.  I got it from Amazon. I share your love of dogs, Lind but they really tie you down..
Good for you for doing the Alzheimer's walk.

Claudia..I am sure that you are enjoying your visit with Adam. I am glad that your shoulder mri turned out well.

Linda..I bought a duraflame heater a few years ago because our family room in the north is so cold. I do not find it cold enough here to warrant one.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight.🌸🍁🍁

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Thanks, Barbara.  Glad the pain pill helped.  Do you know what brand the bag is?  I recognize some  "name brands", but others I don't know.  Reading all the reviews can get confusing.  Good that you had a chance to talk to your brother.

I have a couple of "space" heaters, and use them in the winter -- keep the house pretty cold.  But, I don't need another heater of any type.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

I'm glad the pain pill helped and you talked to you brother, Barbara. I usually don't use a space heater. We aren't using the gas fireplace in the living room. 2 dog crates take up space plus it wasn't staying on. The one in the back room is very reliable. That was the least expensive and R installed it.

This morning it was 37° and foggy. It eventually warmed up a bit. We were out early as they were doing flu shots at the VA clinic. After R got his shot we stopped at Bob Evans for breakfast .

The owners of the nearest boarding kennel  sat behind us. They had no room for Griff over this weekend though. The niece of the one owner had extensive back surgery earlier this year. She does most of the grooming. At first the surgery seemed successful but she's had more and more pain. After 7 specialists they've said there's not much that can be done and she can no longer do grooming. The owner was preparing to turn the grooming and boarding business over to the niece. Life can change in an instant.

Tip is very attached to Adam. She follows him everywhere she can and cries when he's out of view. Monday she will be a very sad pup. Hopefully she will cheer up when Griff comes home.

Linda, does the Midnight PM help you sleep? I have to remind R to take it most times. It's too bad your time with the hospice patient was cancelled.

Adam got the very large vintage grocery scale (50 pounds) down from the attic. Once things settle down we plan to sell it since we don't have the space for it.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of October 13

Often, Midnite PM does help, Claudia.  But, not every time.  Like R, I sometimes forget to take it.  I will do so tonight for sure.

That is certainly a shame about the kennel owner's niece.  Life can certainly change quickly..
