REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

it is a little cool out but not bad. The temps are supposed to increase as the week goes on. We are doing the decorating for Sydnie, I have streamers and a flag for the golf csrt but will do later.

Sydnie has had a friend who has been not a good influence...always talking about how rich she is,; she is very materialistic and thinks earning F is funny.,M has tried to point out some truths to Syd, but it took a couple of dance team girls to let her know that this girl was talking smack about her. A hard lesson to be learned.

it should be fun to have them here.

I hope yiu have a good day. 🌵🌵💖

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

Good Afternoon/Evening and thanks for getting us started, Barbara.  It is warmer here than yesterday, but still not very warm (low 60's).  It should be warmer tomorrow, cooler on Tuesday, and get up to the 80's by Thursday.

So glad M, Syd, and Pepper are coming for a visit.  Happy you have started decorating.  That is a shame about her "friend".  Glad the dance team girls let her know what was happening.  Many of the students in my high school came from rather wealthy and/or prominent families.  Most just ignored those of us who came from more modest families.  But, a few were quite nice.  Teenage years can be difficult.

Hope all is going well with you and R today, Claudia.

I have nothing at all interesting to report  Have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

It's been quite windy today. It makes it feel colder than it actually is (low 40's).

It's a good thing Syd's dance team friends let her know about the other girl, Barbara. As Linda said the teenage years are tough. Enjoy M and Syd's visit.

My niece posted that many of the CO roads are closed in her part of the state.

Nothing of interest to report. The chores are done. R still isn't doing well. I have a feeling I'll be driving round trip to tomorrow's appointment.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Hope R's appointment went okay today, Claudia.  Also hope the drive wasn't too tiring/difficult for you.  That was certainly a lot of snow in Colorado and Wyoming, etc.  I hope my friend who is moving back to Wyoming was safely in Arizona.

I found out that DGD's insurance didn't approve the in-hospital testing for her seizures, so DD needs to drive her to DC (quite far from their home) on Wednesday to have the testing started (I think they will be putting some sort of device on her head), and back on Friday to have it removed.  Hope she gets some answers.

DD was very frustrated with her class/instructor, and ended up contacting the person in charge of these sorts of courses (basically job training/preparation) at the community college to complain.  The lady was very thankful to have the feedback, and after their discussion, she said that they will insist on some changes.  For one thing, she will insist that the instructor extend the class plus they will be taking the exam in May rather than April.  I didn't realize it, but the teacher has given them no feedback at all about their quizzes, etc.  And, she has basically just been reading her powerpoint presentation for hours.  If there are questions, she tells them to e-mail, but doesn't get back to them for a week or more.  Anyway, DD was happy that she spoke up, and I'm sure the others in the class will be as well.  Apparently, this instructor is very good in person, but not on Zoom.  And, the college is planning to do on-line only in the future to save money, so they need to get this right.

I guess that M and Syd are there now, Barbara.  Hope you are having a good visit.

Just heard from Jean that she didn't sleep last night, and just woke up.  But, now she can open her mouth completely.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

M and syd arrived 3 hours late. The plane in pHX had to be replaced and that took time. But they arrived safely.

Sydnie was very excited with her bday surprises. We will decorate the golf cart after the wind dies down tomorrow.

Itis good dd found out about the insurance issues. I thought thyroid were fairly close to DC. Gad she spoke out about the teacher.

Sydnie wants to drive the goof cart so I am going to go

Claudia..hope yiur day went ok. 💕💕

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

That's good news about Jean, Linda. I don't envy your DD the drive. It's a shame the insurance won't cover the test in hospital. It's good she spoke up about the instructor.

We're back home. R is to try walking until his legs  get heavy and do it 4 times a day hopefully extending the distance to see if his circulation in his legs form new pathways. He also has a prescription to take. That was called in to the VA for us to pickup and what a mess that was to resolve. We did get it though. He goes back in 3 months to see the specialist again.

Barbara, was excited. I'm glad they arrived safely. Enjoy the visit.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

Good Afternoon/Evening.  My hospice day is Thursday, Barbara.  Tuesdays used to be my volunteer at the senior lunch program days until a year ago.  Not sure when they will open up again.

Glad Syd, M, and Pepper made it okay, and Syd liked her birthday surprises.  It is a shame you are having issues today.  Glad V can help entertain, and M thinks he looks good.

DD lives in a sort of outer suburb of DC -- about 45 miles from the hospital, and the traffic between where she lives and the hospital is horrible.  I grew up very close to Northwest DC, but that area was too expensive for my ex and me many years ago.  So, we moved over to an area closer to Northeast DC.  But, many younger people couldn't afford that area, so moved out to counties further out.

Hope R is able to keep up with the exercise, Claudia.  Four times a day doesn't sound fun.  Glad he was able to get the prescription.

It is pretty chilly here as well, Barbara.

I heard from DH's daughter yesterday evening (she had seen my post about DH's birthday on FB).  She was pretty sad because on of her friends (the one who introduced her and her husband years ago) died last week.  Only 50 years old, but had some sort of autoimmune disease and the bone marrow transplant didn't work.

This morning, I heard from my SIL.  The move into her "boyfriend's" house went well, but she fell in a parking lot yesterday.  Broke her glasses, had cuts and bruises, etc.  Not fun, but she said she could cover up the facial bruises pretty well with makeup.

Middle DGS and his girlfriend have found a townhouse that they would like to rent.  It has a basement sort of apartment with its own bathroom, etc.  And, they invited youngest DGS to come and live there (assuming they are able to get the townhouse).  Youngest DGS is very interested, so we will see.  That would just leave DGD at home with her parents.  I think that DD and my SIL are a bit sad about the idea, but certainly don't want to stand in his way.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

I bet Syd's cookies were great, Barbara.  It's so easy to overdo and then end up having issues. I'm glad V can help. Enjoy the visit.

R tried the stairs and found his right heel hurt. In looking at it I see a tiny black spot about pinhead size that hurts when I push it. So he's calling his doctor tomorrow. Given his diabetes and circulation it has to be checked out.

Linda, that's a shame about DH's daughter's friend. That's too young.  I hope things work out for your middle DGS and his gf. The basement "apartment" sounds like a better option for your youngest DGS than the one he was considering. I'm glad your sil isn't break any bones. When I fall it's usually face first. It's my talent. Haha.

It was chilly today but we didn't get the forecast ice.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of March 14

Good Afternoon/Evening!

Hope you are feeling better today, Barbara, and everyone is having fun.  It was very chilly when I got up (only 30 degrees), but is pretty nice now.

Also hope R is doing okay, Claudia.  That spot on R's heel does sound like something that needs to be checked out.

As I mentioned on the other thread, I took three screens into the hardware store to be repaired.  Actually, one will need to be replaced/rebuilt.  The "screen guy" who does the work is older and only works two days a week.  So, he said it will probably be a couple of weeks before they are ready.  I'm just glad to have someone help with the repairs.

I also went by the nursery, and purchased a planter with little succulents that I had been considering.  I think the container is very nice (Southwest looking), and I hope I don't kill the plants.

I heard from DD that she made it to the hospital in time for the appointment, and they were putting the electrodes on DGD's head.  She wasn't sure if she would make it home in time for the start of her class this evening, but hopefully won't miss much.  The official from the college who planned to attend class via Zoom and talk about changes got COVID and isn't feeling well.  She is supposed to send an e-mail, however.

Next up for me is taking a walk in the sunshine.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
