REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

Good Sunday afternoon. I decided against the knit a long, primarily because I am not ready to purchase the materials yet. Plus,I'm feel like the TinManl lol

Sydnie talked her papa into going to a new cookie bakery called Crumbl. The cookies are huge ,thick , quite good, although a bit pricey. I had part of one and it was yummy.

I slept until 9 again..that is because I need my infusion. I ddid some prep fod dinner .v brought the laundry down so that is my project for the afternoon.

I love Logo tees so I picked up a set. That is my first purchase from q ina while

Lunda, I would guess you are getting ready for your visitor.

oops..meant Linda.

Claudia I cannot get down on my hands and knees. Lol it is not a pretty sight when I try to get up.

Enjoy 😍😍

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

Rainy day here starting late morning. Without checking the forecast I knew it was on its way. Tin man is an apt description, Barbara. Enjoy your Logo tees. I have a set of 2 Kim Gravel tees I recently picked up and am pleased with them.

I put the garbage out earlier than usual because I did not want to have to do it in the rain and it certainly poured for a while.

When I do try to get up off the floor I slide my way to stairs and manage to get up that way. R thinks it's ridiculous but it works for me and is easier than trying to use a chair.

Laundry has been put away and the forsythia bush trimmed. Tomorrow I'll take the branches to the collection area. Yesterday I helped R move his smoker off the back porch and down 7 steps to the garage area.

Do you know when your niece in law  will arrive tomorrow, Linda?

Have a good evening.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

Good Afternoon/Evening!  I don't blame you for not wanting to go to the knitting group feeling like "Tin Man", Barbara.  Hope your infusion really helps.  I am not big on getting down on the floor.  Used to be no problem to get up and down, but now it can be a struggle.  The yoga teacher taught us a technique that is supposed to make it easier, and I guess it does a little.  Not going to exercise class for all this time has had a negative impact on my body for sure.  I do the exercise DVDs and walk, but it just isn't enough.  I am taking a chair yoga OLLI class via Zoom starting on the 19th.  Only four classes, I think.

Guess the stair method might work for me, Claudia.  But, no stairs here.  Sounds like you have been very busy.  Sorry you are another "tin man".

Those cookies sound good.  Hope you like the Logo tees, Barbara.  I saw them and thought they looked nice.  But, I really, really don't need any more clothing.  I have to keep telling myself that over and over.

I had quite an experience yesterday evening.  It was hot, hot, hot all day, and suddenly the wind went crazy as did the sky.  My first Haboob, and I hope my last.  According to one post on the neighborhood website, the wind got up to 66 miles an hour.  We lost power, but only for 10 minutes in my neighborhood.  Others were without power all night.

Anyway, I thought the skylight in the bathroom was about to fly off, but it did not.  Then, I checked the backyard and my plastic chairs and table had blown to the other side of the yard.  It was raining, lightening, etc., but I saw something else that concerned me.  I was afraid it was part of the roof or something, but it turned out to be the lid from a plastic storage container of some sort -- not mine.  Anyway, I checked it out in the morning, and my across the street neighbor suggested putting it outside the wall in the alley so that someone might see it.

He also pointed out that one of my next door neighbors lost a section of the roof tiles.  He just had that fixed a couple of months ago, but this neighbor told me that it wasn't a good job.  He was going to try to contact the neighbor who is away (probably in the Dakotas).

Then, when I took my walk, I saw a lot of distruction -- trees, large bushes, cactus, etc., etc. knocked down -- out of the soil.  Some in the roads.  Another neighbor told me that a large tree had fallen in the alley behind her house.

I had the roof work done last October, but decided to contact a different roofer (recommended by my plumber) to have him inspect the roof and make any repairs needed.

Whew!

My niece-in-law and I have been messaging back and forth, and she thinks she will be here between 1 and 3.  That is much earlier than I expected, but I'm trying not to panic.  She planned to drive down one way (Apache Trail to Globe) but decided against it due to the fires.  She has already experienced a dust storm.  Hope the weather here won't be too bad.

Church was very nice this morning.  My chair didn't come until today, and now I need to put it together.  Wish me luck.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

Wow! I'm glad your skylight stayed put, Linda and apparently no roof damage either. It's a good idea to have it checked though. I'm glad you weren't out out on a walk.

Fingers crossed it won't be difficult to put the chair together.

Don't panic and take a deep breath. Once your company arrives you'll probably wonder why you felt panic. Of course I'd panic myself but my situation is different with dogs, cats, and R. Especially R.

He did a roast in the smoker by the garage. He had me going back and forth for needed items up and down the steps numerous times. I was glad to make a trip to grocery store and have some peace and quiet briefly.

The roast was done before 4pm so we had supper early. Now it's not even 7 PM and I'd like to go to bed!

yikes , Linda,I have experienced several dust storms or Haboobs. I have watched the mountain that we view literally disappear from sight. V almost caught caught in one 2 years ago drbing back from Scottsdale. The radar was tracking it so I told him when to get off the road. He went into some store.

I hope you enjoy your visit with your niece.Tupac is a great destination.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

This is an "I can't move " day. And it was a day that I had to move. I had the stitches in my mouth removed and then I had an echocardiogram in the afternoon. It is a bit of a hike to get into the hospital. I did make it with some difficulty.  Yikes

Syd is quite intrigued by the college courses. And from what I am hearing, it is not watered down at all.

Linda..enjoy your visit, I meant to say Tupac. That wouod be a great place to meet next fall or winter.

ClaudiA..ouchie with all of the up and down.I almost fell getting into the garage . M doesn't want any railings or bars but we are going to have her change her mind.

Enjoy the rest of the day. 🎈🎈

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

We just had a heavy downpour. It was still sprinkling when I went to the post office drop box. On my way I noticed a large tree was down several blocks away. More rain is expected tomorrow. The boat launches along the river have been closed and some are under water but no real flooding yet.

R is smoking a 5 pound + roast (for 2 people). Beef or pork, I don't know and I'd rather not have it as an every day diet.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Yikes, Barbara. Not a good day for you.. Those days always seem to happen when one has to get around and do things.

Railings or bars can always be removed. Some type of bar is a must though a railing might be better.

I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

Sorry it was a difficult day for you, Barbara.  Hope today (already after Midnight there, I think) is better.  I wasn't fond of bars/railings when I was younger.  Now I think they are a necessity.  Hopefully, M will change her mind.  I'm sure she would feel bad if either of you were injured due to a fall.

Glad Syd is intrigued about the college classes.  I am thinking Tubac for Wednesday, but I'm not sure.  We are having a big rainstorm at the moment, but made it to and back from dinner before the rain started.  It would be fun to meet you there when you are back.

My niece-in-law and I have had wonderful conversations, and I have learned a lot about her background as well as what my late brother and SIL did to her and my late nephew as well as others.  Really bad stuff (lots of money, putting things under their name without permission, etc., etc.)  And, she was helping pay for my SIL's cell phone until two weeks ago.  Even longer than I was paying for her car(s).  I think the two of us have similar philosophies on some major things, and I take my hat off to her.  Smart, thoughtful young woman.

Hope both of you and your husbands had a nice evening and slept well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of July 11

I feel as if summer is flying by. We have a short trip scheduled to Galena, Illinois, which is on thevMississippi River.,Will have to see if that works out.

I had to restart the baby blanket..it is not a difficult pattern but is very precise and one cannot be off by a stitch. I only had a couple of inches done.

I am very limited in motion again today. I did my stretching and hip exercises and that helped.

Linda..enjoy your niece. That is a shame about the financial stuff. Enjoy Tubac

Claudia, I am not a big meat eater.R is cooking up a storm .Good luck with that.

Enjoy your day.🌈🌈🌸🌸
