REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

It is really chilly and rainy here. I turned the heat on..it was 66 in the house and that is too cold.

It it took me 45 minutes to get back from church, normally a 10 minute deal. Today there was a marathon using the highway, so one lane was closed..this is an annual event.

Sydnie had her dress rehearsal yesterday and only one costume is weird. The others are very pretty...v wanted to know if she was eating because her ribs are showing. Lol. She has quite the 6 pack.

Nothing exciting here..hope you both have a good day.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

Another beautiful day. It's 60 degrees here. I haven't done much - picked a few groceries up, cleaned the yard, and put the garbage out.

R was home earlier than expected last night. Did not shoot well. I wonder if it's his eyes. Several years ago the specialist mentioned he had cataracts but did not need surgery yet.

When he went to open the glove box in the suv it fell down. Fortunately he was able to get it back in place today.

Having such a time consuming drive home when it should only be 10 minutes is frustrating. At least it's only once a year.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

Good Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Barbara.  It is cool and off and on rainy here as well.   I leave the thermostat set (heat or AC), so the heat comes on when it is cool/cold or hot outside.  And, it did come on this morning.  When I came back from visiting DH, I turned it up a bit because I was feeling cold despite wearing a sweatshirt.

Sorry you had such a long drive due to the marathon.

Glad Syd likes more of the costumes.  V's remark is pretty funny.

DH's DD took his older DGD to San Francisco again yesterday so she could try out for a different ballet school/company. (She did not get into the first one).  I was surprised to learn that she has given up piano and soccer to concentrate on dance.  And, she goes to ballet several afternoons a week.  I guess she doesn't think she will ever be a professional or anything, but just enjoys dance a lot.  And, fracturing her pelvis when playing soccer was probably a big turnoff.

DH was doing okay when I visited him at lunchtime -- in the wheelchair, but smiling.  When I was at the gym, I saw a personal trainer with a resident in the same facility (different house).  This is a younger lady, but she must have a pretty serious problem (physical at least).  The trainer and her caregiver/friend/relative (don't know), had a very difficult time getting her on the equipment.  Not sure that they will try again from the sound of things.

Hope you are feeling okay today, Claudia, and R isn't hurting too much.

Have a nice evening and sleep well!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

I'm glad your DH was doing well today, Linda. I don't blame his DGD for deciding against soccer. Hopefully she'll get into the ballet school she wants. It may be better to concentrate on one thing rather than try to do several.

Still coughing here. I think that will take a while to go away.

Btw Linda, Louis has a sleeveless blouse coming up sometime this spring not sure when.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

Good Morning!  Hope your cough is a little better, Claudia.  My eye doctor is watching cataracts, but so far she doesn't think surgery is necessary.  The most worrisome one is in my left "lazy" eye, so I don't think surgery will make all that much difference.

I'll need to look for the new top from Louis, Claudia.  I have not purchased much clothing from Q lately, but I do like his things a lot.

Hope you are doing okay today, Barbara, and your trip home will be a smooth one.

It is supposed to get a little warmer here today, and warmer still on Tuesday and Wednesday.  On Thursday, it will be cooler again (highs in the 60's).  I guess I can't complain about our "cooler" weather.

DH was doing okay when I visited him later, and I was surprised that the caregiver had him walk to the living room from his room.  She asked me if I wanted to walk with him, but I told her that I had been advised not to do so.  I guess she didn't get the message from the other caregiver or hospice nurse.  Not that I wouldn't like to try to walk with him, but.....

I'll be leaving to visit DH in an hour or so, and then going directly to have the oil changed in the car.  The garage is very close to the 99 cent store and Wal-Mart, so I'll probably do a little shopping while they work.

Hope both of you have a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

Good morning."it was nice to see the sun shining this morning. I have a load of laundry going.  Other than that, I need to figure out what I am taking home to leave there.

Good that you told the caregiver about dh not walking.  Have fun shopping even though those 2 stores I do not frequent. I much prefer target. Hope dhs dgd gets into the ballet program she wants .

M just posted syds solo costume. I cannot post it on FB for a while. It is very cute.

Claudia hope you continue to be on the mend.

have a good day.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

No shopping here. It was 63 and sunny. R finally had his mri. We have the disc to give the VA. I don't know if we'll need to make a special trip or if it can be handed over at the time of appointment. We need to schedule the orthopedic appointment but have to wait till tomorrow.

I bet Sydnie's costume is darling, Barbara.

Good decision not to try to walk with DH, Linda. Too bad the caregiver didn't know until she heard it from you that he has lots of difficulty now.

Tomorrow I pick up TT's medicine from the vet. I may try to stop by Wegman's. I also must remember to schedule Griff for grooming.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

Good Morning!  Hope your flight home goes well, Barbara.  I like Target, but the closest one is 18 miles away versus about 3 miles away from Wal-Mart and the 99 cents only store.  In addition, they are doing road construction between here and the shopping center where Target is, so it can be slow going.  The garage I use is within walking distance to several stores, including Ross and Big Lots.  While the car was in the shop, I walked up to Ross, and tried on several things.  Almost went for a pair of Sketcher;s sneakers, but held back.  Ended up going to Wal-Mart after the car was ready.

Anyway, I didn't have much free time yesterday between visiting DH, the oil change, and picking up things at Wal-Mart.  Not "fun" things -- weed killer, etc.  But, needed.

Glad R got his MRI, Claudia.  Hope he gets some answers that help with his pain.  Also hope you are having a good day.

A different caregiver was there at lunchtime, and she walked DH from the bedroom to the living room again.  He did okay, and I told her that I had been told not to try it.  I think the "regular" caregiver will be there today, but I'm not sure she will still be there by the time I arrive.  At least DH didn't fall.  But, he had a lot of difficulty getting out of the regular chair when I returned.  In fact, he could not get out.  We ended up pushing him in his living room chair to the table.  He ate well, and was in good spirits.  Just could not get out of the chair.  I stayed a little later than normal, but left when they told me my favorite male caregiver was coming around 7:00.  If anyone could get him out of the chair and into bed, it is that caregiver.  He has a very good way with all the residents.

Needless to say, I'm a bit frustrated by all of this, but I am sort of conflicted since I think DH needs to walk or lose his ability to do so.

I have my volunteer job today, and then I'll go to the gym before visiting DH.

Hope both of you have a nice day.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

It is frustrating, Linda. I though would worry about him falling and getting hurt when trying to walk. Such a tough situation.

We had planned to take R's mri disc to the VA tomorrow after bowling. They need it before his orthopedic appointment on the 7th. However he got a telephone reminder today of a different appointment there Thursday. So we will drop the disc off then. This is the second time we haven't been notified by email of an appointment made for him.

Barbara, I hope you had a good flight.

Our weather is in the 60's again today. I picked up TT's meds and stopped at the grocery. R meant to sight in a muzzleloader but fell asleep instead. Tomorrow I need to stop by the newspaper office. When R had his debit card replaced again I gave them the new card information. Little did I realize that the last time he had to replace his card, I'd given them my card number. Upon checking the cu online I found it was taken out under both cards.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of February 19

I made it home. I am having my infusion now. I took the light rail and train from the airport..only 3.75 compared to 100 for my taxi driver. M was off so could get be from the train stop. It was a lot of walking but I did fine pulling a suitcase. Lol.

we may have a big snow fall on Friday...to day is nice but the weather is changing.

Syd was very excited to see me as was Pepper. She is a little chubby ( pepper ) so m is cuttin her back to 1/3 cup daily. The vet wants her between 10 and 11 pounds.

i have to take m for an infusion for her headaches this afternoon.

this is short but I am almost done. Have a good day.
