Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

[ Edited ]

A very Happy Birthday, Linda.

R is feeling somewhat better today. We had a light coating of snow overnight. The town north of here where the dogs are groomed got around 6" or more. I did get Tippy there this morning. The area for parking was ice. Thank heavens someone came out to get sticky because I wasn't sure how I'd manage with my ice pick cane and Tippy. The walk to the building was clear but all around the car was ice. One shattered femur was more than enough for me. When I picked Tippy up the ice was gone.

Fingers crossed your DGS can transfer back to MD next year, Linda. That's a beautiful floral arrangement. I'm glad Bev took your advice and called the doctor's office.

I didn't mail the packages today. When I brought Tippy home I decided it was a better use of my energy to organize the recycling and put it out front. It's been 3 weeks since the last collection so there was a lot to put out. Curbside recycling goes by the 1st full week of the month and then 2 weeks later. I've had lots of orders arrive so there were  boxes to clear out of the house. Tomorrow I can get the 2 packages mailed.

Poor Sydnie and her cold hands. I'm glad M is feeling better today and you were up to doing the cleaning, Barbara.

I had very little sleep last night. I hope tonight will be better.

Have a good evening.

Glad R was able to help with your glasses, Claudia.  What is with glasses these days?  I don't remember this happening in the past.  Oh well....  Glad you didn't fall at the groomers.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

Good afternoon..I am trying to work up the energy to go to Starbucks. Lol. I have had a assive load of laundry. V either wears big, heavy flannel shirts or sweatshirts. They create a lot of volume.

All of my Xmas gifts have arrived. Since each grandchild was born, I have bought them special personalized ornaments. This year Syd got a skier, Kaylie am

nd Miley running girls, Kaia, basketball player, Vanessa , a girl raking a selfie with her cell phone and V4 a hockey player because that is his dream.

Linda..it would be nice of dgs got transferred back to MD.

Those flowers were quite beautiful..what a thoughtful gesture. I hope that you had a nice bday.

Claudia...hope your day is going well. I hate going out when it is slippery...I always use my cane.

Laundry is calling..enjoy your day.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

Hope you are able to get all that laundry done, Barbara.   Sounds tiring.  I used to buy special ornaments for my grands, but gave that up years ago.  I still put up the ornaments I bought for their birth years.  The ones you ordered sound nice and appropriate.  Enjoy Starbucks.

We are supposed to have much cooler weather (down to the 30's) on Thursday night, and rain on Friday.  We need the rain, but I'm sure not a fan of cold rain.  Since I am going to the luncheon tomorrow, I may be delivering hospice supplies on Friday morning -- not fun since I have to keep getting in and out of the car.  Oh well...

It is a beautiful bouquet, and I was very pleased that our (DH's friend and me) conversation was good -- no politics at all.  He told me a sad story about his son's long-time girlfriend (more like common law wife) who is starting to show signs of dementia.  She has been to a neurologist, but is waiting to get all the results.  It is definitely something, but.... She is only 59.   He also told me that he and a friend of his (male) may be driving out this way -- not sure when.  I said that I'd love to go with them to the parks in the area (or even a bit away) if his friend didn't mind.

Hope all is well with you, R, and your furbabies today, Claudia.  DD said that it had snowed there, but it was very light.   It is pretty cold.  Hope it isn't too cold or slippery where you live.

I made some bread, but used the wrong temperature (too low) for a while. Hope that it tastes okay.  Bev was talking about baking bread, and I was inspired  Just finished my last OLLI class for the Fall on Anglo Saxon England.

I need to go to the hospice office to pick up the mailings now.

Hope both of you and your husbands sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

I slept much better last night. We did have light snow and today felt very cold. I think it reached 30°. I mailed out a package to Adam plus the one to R's buddy. Luckily there was parking at the post office and no line. Two people came in as I finished up.

Then we stopped at the cleaners so I could pick up my alterations. I got them in the backseat, went to shut the door, next thing I knew down I went on the main street of town. A nice woman ran to help me up and let R know I was down on the blacktop. Between them I got up. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow but nothing broken. R says I jinxed myself before I went in the cleaners by saying I was taking a cane because if I didn't I'd surely fall. Ha! It wasn't slippery out just over balanced and went backwards.

After that I decided I deserved lunch out.

I used to purchase special ornaments for the kids but gave it up years ago.

I hope you enjoy the luncheon and the weather for the hospice deliveries isn't too cold and wet, Linda. Anglo Saxon England sounds interesting.

That laundry really adds up, Barbara. I bought R a flannel nightshirt from Lee Valley Ireland. Good thing I ordered 3x. It just fits.

We wanted to schedule a minor change to our wills but found the attorney is no longer with the attorney she partnered with. There was a different phone number to call but all we got was a busy signal.

Have a good evening.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

Good afternoon..we are under a winter storm warning..could possibly have a few inches of snow. I decided to pick up a few items athe grocery store it was pretty empty..usually people go nuts when there is a storm warning.

amie is having a canary that v and I aren't getting tested. Our clinics not do tests and the places that do are booked through next week. He is feeling much better if he even had it. Yikes

Linda..that. Is. Nice that you had a good non political, chat. My trumpy brother, tried to get me going on a phone. Call the other day..I did not respond so he changed subjects quickly.

Claudia..hope you are not tooo. Sore from falling. I have restarted my balance exercises to get my body reoriented.
i  think that going up and down the stairs helps me.

Enjoy your day..no snowflakes yet.❄️💨❄️

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

I hope you enjoyed your luncheon, Linda.

Today felt cold though its in the low 30's.. When I was out my ears ached.

I stopped at Tractor Supply for dry cat food and dog treats. I noticed they had no canned cat food. I didn't look at Wal-Mart as I didn't want to walk across the whole store but they haven't had much for over a month.

I debated going to a local estate sale but wimped out. Maybe tomorrow since it is all on one floor.

As suspected I'm sore today and being careful not to repeat my tumble.

I picked up a couple Christmas gnomes at Aldi's.  I've always liked gnomes and you find them everywhere this year. I need to sit down and get some Christmas cards ready to be mailed. I will be sending fewer this year.

Barbara, I'm glad V feels much better. He certainly doesn't need a set back. Good idea to make the grocery store run before the snow arrives.

A former classmate posted her brother fell and broke both ankles. Due to lack of a room he was in the hallway for a day and a half. Then he was on a ward with 2 covid patients. Finally he was given a room but the other patient had covid  and now he has it. Meanwhile he's had 2 surgeries but needs a 3rd.

Sadly in our small town there have been 2 suicides this week of students at the local highschool.. The past year and a half has been tough on students and the teenage years are not easy.

It seems we need to find a new attorney to make changes to our will or even a new will. We haven't been able to reach the previous attorney at the new number given. R will be calling someone tomorrow once he decides who.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of December 5

Glad you were able to get the groceries before the snow came, Barbara.  Are you able to get those at home tests?  I know they aren't as good, but might be helpful.  I was happy to get free ones from the library.  As you may see on the other thread, a resident at DH's DD's hospital had a wedding in Wisconsin, and came back with COVID which spread to 10 more people.  All were vaccinated, but they have to quarantine which threw the hospital schedule into a mess.

My church canceled a few more planned events due to the colder weather and COVID.  They have purchased some heaters for use during the services.  Yikes!

Sorry it was so cold your ears ached, Claudia.  I am super sensitive about cold ears so I know I wouldn't have been happy.  Too bad about the missing cat food.   I rushed through the grocery stores this morning, but I noticed frozen vegetables had gone way up in price as had the canned.  I'll just change the recipe a bit rather than pay the price.

That is terrible about the suicides in your area.  DH's DD was telling me that her younger daughter and many of her friends are having a very difficult time -- eating disorders, depression, etc. are affecting many.  Imagine having to stay in the hall for a day and a half and then have problems with "roommates" at the hospital.  I wasn't a happy camper when DH had to stay in the hall one time before he could get into a room at the ER.  But, we are only talking about an hour or two.

Glad you got your Christmas gnomes, and good luck finding a new lawyer.  Hope you are able to go to the estate sale.

The luncheon was quite nice.  I had macaroni and cheese plus a salad, which was tasty.  It was a barbecue place in a lovely resort area (I had never been there before), and others seemed to enjoy their food.  Not cheap, but.....  I sat with a lady I know from previous lunches, and she was telling me her husband had a quadruple bypass, and gave up red meat on his doctor's advice.  I think the doctor was surprised that he compiled quickly.

My hospice deliveries went fine, so tomorrow should be a much less busy day.  Bev had an appointment for her procedure, but now has decided she would like it done sooner in the hospital.  If she has it done in the office, it won't be until after Christmas.

Hope both of you and your husbands sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
