REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

Good morning...itis an uneventful day..lol. I cannot believe the inconsistency among the states in response to the virus. I wish there was some leadership from the federal government providing acrptual direction. Will say no more.🤬

need to get up ambition to clean the oven..mine is not self cleaning..so is a pain. ,

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

Yikes. I hit post for some unknown reason.

Linda..good luck on rearranging your closets..i did some of that yesterday..still have too much. I am going to do a serious purge one of these days.

our church service was interesting..the different players.pianist, organist ministers each recorded from their homes and then it was spliced together. It was very well done.

m took Sydnie driving in a big college parking lot not too far from us. She doesn't have a permit, but parents are supposed to take them out for practice in remote places. M said Syd kept slamming on the brakes. Eeek lol

Claudia..hope your day is going well. Are you able to stay pretty much in your house.

have a very good day. 💖💖

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Back from a nice walk in the neighborhood.  Not many people out today, but I did see a few other walkers and people working on their yards/houses.

My church does a similar thing, Barbara -- only the minister is at the church, but they go to others -- like the musicians and youth minister in their homes.  The two ministers actually had a dialogue today, which was nice.  As they suggested, I had my juice and bread ready for communion -- discovered that cranberry juice is very sweet.  LOL  I usually dilute it with water.

I don't remember ever ordering food on-line other than pizza for pick-up, but decided to do that with a local Chinese restaurant and it worked quite well.  But, there was a ton of food, so I will have at least one more meal from what I picked up.

Interesting about Syd trying to drive.  I remember being a very cautious driver myself, but the driving instructor was the one who slammed on the brakes (he had brakes on his side) when others were going too quickly, etc.  Hard to believe Syd is already practicing driving.  My DGD is 20 and still has done nothing toward getting a drivers license.  I think she was planning to get her learners this spring, but nevermind.

I find the inconsistencies in rules to be confusing as well.  I live in an unincorporated area which is subject to county rules, but the next community up (very close to where I live) is incorporated, and has their own rules.  And, the governor has different rules.  I found it interesting that he suddenly decided to close down hairdressers, etc.  I have been worried about going to my hairdresser for at least two weeks.  My hair is already too long.  According to the newspaper, business was way down here before the closure.

Good luck with your oven.  I haven't had one that wasn't self-clean for many years.  But, I have to admit that i don't often clean it -- partially because I don't use it as much as I did in the past.  I didn't think I would like a glass cooktop, but I love that it is so easy to clean -- razor blade and cleaner.  It looks a nice as when I first got the stove.  That was always an issue with my gas ranges -- loved them, but.....

I went through my closets, and they are arranged better.  But, I didn't find many clothes to give away.  I did find some of my old friends and decided that I have a wonderful wardrobe.  Unless I gain or lose weight or they are damaged in some way, I don't need more clothes period.

Hope all is going okay with you, R, and your furbabies, Claudia.

Also hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

When Adam got his partner's permit he drove home at first 10 mph. He's always been a fairly cautious driver. His sister in the other hand learned in a week so she could get her license before going back to base. R taught her and oh my I was forever sitting in the passenger seat slamming my foot where a brake should be any time I rode with her.

Years ago I helped teach my sisters. Middle sister had me wishing there was a brake for the passenger seat. My youngest sister was no problem. M is in for an experience. Hard to believe Sydnie is old enough. The years have gone by quickly.

I had go to Wal-Mart today for an otc medicine for R. Since Zantac is permanently recalled he needed a substitute. It seems the best choice is Pepcid. I hope it works for him. His stomach is in bad shape and the remaining hole in the diaphragm adds to the problem. He has 2 other medications that help. Thank heavens they've developed these medicines over the years. When I first knew him there weren't many options.

I saw the store was completely out of butter and eggs and most yogurt. No yeast or tp either. I hear some stores have roped off everything but groceries and pharmacy. Our local one hasn't yet. I took the opportunity to pick up a couple summer weight pajamas that were really needed. Fleece does not work in hot weather.

When we ordered take out Chinese food we had enough for at least 2 meals, Linda. We no longer have any local Chinese restaurants.

I hope to find time to work on my closet and dresser drawers but maybe tomorrow. At least I got the laundry done.

I am due to get my hair trimmed too but that won't happen anytime soon. R shaved his head. It's about time to give him his bedtime pills before I go upstairs.

I hope we all sleep well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

Good afternoon...I think it is Monday..lol. Another lovely day..perfect temps, sunny etc.i will spend some time outdoors with pepper in a bit.

re syds driving. She does not have a permit yet but parents can take 15 year olds diving in empty parking lots. Apparently, they need to do this before they can take drivers ed. My bil, who teaches it, said the rules have changed a lot.

Linda..interesting that yiur dds children haven't driven early. My kids all had their licenses at 16 and Sydnies friends are the same way. Chinese take out sounds yummy..

I have to be in the mood to eat Chinese, but it is a thought. I am sure you are enjoying your walks..it is so nice.

i have a couple of prescriptions to pick up but I want to do it when cvs first opens.i decided tha my hair will just grow out..think I will attempt to groom pepper in a few days.

enjoy the day as much as you can. Stay safe 😘😘

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

I made macaroni salad this afternoon. Now to figure what to have with it.

R used the large weed trimmer and did the sides of the yard. I mowed which was quite difficult due to a certain pup' s digging. I still need to change the bedding.

The VA clinic called regarding R's stomach/esophagus problems. They're going to do a referral to a specialist though who knows when that will be.

It's a sunny mild day here. The masks I ordered arrived in the mail. My former work place is considered essential. I just saw a photo on FB of the masks the state provided. Oh my. On the plus side, at least they provided masks.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

Good Afternoon/Evening.  Hope the medicines work for R, Claudia.  Glad he will be seeing a specialist someday at least.  I wondered about people taking Zantac since I know it was a very popular product.  I took Pepcid when I had heartburn issues (prescribed many years ago).  Glad your weather is pretty good and you and R were able to do some yard work.  Please don't overdo it.

When I was growing up, everyone wanted to get their driver's license when they turned 16, and they gave driver's ed in school.  Unfortunately, I could not get into a driver's ed class until I was older, and then had trouble passing the test (due to my depth perception issues and parallel parking).  I think I was 17 before I actually got my license, but my brother certainly had his at 16 as did DD.  I am pretty surprised about my grands, but I know that paying for insurance was part of the issue with the boys.

Hope grooming Pepper goes okay, Barbara.  Wonder if she will stand still at all.  I had so much trouble bathing some of the dogs, and never tried to groom them other than that.  My hair isn't looking good at all, but I will wait until it is safe to go back to a hairdresser rather than trying to cut it myself.

I like macaroni salad very much, but have rarely made it, Claudia.  I always think of it as something to serve with ham or hamburgers, but I'm sure there are many other options.

Only "Army" DGS is still going into work, and I don't think they are wearing masks there.  He is not happy going in, but there are very few people in the office, so he is probably not having much contact.  Don't think I could handle wearing a mask all day -- too hot.  Wonder how the people in your old office feel about them.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

I was one who didn't learn to drive until I was 20. It was just before student teaching. Oh do I remember parallel parking, Linda. I seldom have to do it nowadays.

Tippy is overdue for grooming and what a wiggle worm. There's a small mat under one ear I'm trying to work on. I may carefully try the seam ripper chessielady suggested.

Adam called just a bit ago. He is still working. His company furloughed some and laid off others for the first time in their history. They are continuing health insurance for those furloughed and plan to call them back. The people laid off will not be called back. They are ones who were not the best workers.  Former sil's job is essential and Adam seems ok for now in operations control.

Bryan had visitation there . All custody actions are on hold at this point.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS week of April 5

Good afternoon..one more driving story..I got my license shortly after my 16th birthday. The quid pro qu o was that I had to take my 12 year old brother on his morning paper route. My mom and I would take turns, but it meant getting up at 4:30 in the morning.

back from peppers afternoon outing..it was nice to sit outside. My wrist has been hurting a lot the last 2 days..I may have to get that cortisone shot.

Linda..hope your pain has gone..is that your usual unknown origin pain. ?. I know you walk to relieve stress, have you thought about cutting back a little to see if you feel better? Hope dds phone works better for her.and I hope you can get an extension on your plane ticket. I am glad we had nothing booked..until October and that is easily cancelled.

Claudia...hope the visitation stuff can be worked out.i am grateful that syds deadbest has never pushed for any kind of visitation. I practiced trimming peppers beard usin small scissors and she was very good.

try to enjoy the day 💖💖
