Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Sounds like a great birthday, Barbara. Nice to have only a short trip tomorrow.

Hurray, the boil water advisory is over. The younger cats have not understood why I wouldn't turn the tub faucet on occasionally to drip. They prefer drinking from the faucet. The little black female who is the brains of the terrible trio would sit and yell at me.

We had rain overnight and today it's cooler.

Yes, the jays scream at everything, chessielady. They're probably screaming - there's that off lady again.

When the boys start to get into it I firmly tell them "mine" and take the object away. That goes for dishes too. Recently Griff stole half of a butternut squash R had at the back of the stove. He quickly decided that Griffyns don't like squash.

Linda, that was a rather scary situation for DH's granddaughters. So glad they didn't go outside at the wrong time.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

A quiet day today. We didn't get as much rain as was forecast. R has spent most of the day sleeping. While I was out back with the dogs the phone kept ringing with nuisance calls and he pushed wrong buttons on his remote so now to go isn't working.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

We had to change our plans. Found out this morning that due to the fires in Napa valley, our resort was evacuated. I spent a bit of time on the phone and got things changed. We are in Reno tonight and on to Vegas for 3 days. We will be in Phoenix Friday late afternoon. That will work out better for me..I won’t have to rush as much before in go back to Mn. I am feeling pretty good..that makes me happy. M may have to take Pepper into the vet because she is still sick... Have a good evening.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Sorry your plans had to change, Barbara.  But, I'm glad you found a good alternative.  Those fires in CA sound awful, and I have heard that several people have been killed in them.  Hope Pepper will be okay.

Oops about the remote, Claudia.  My DH is sleeping and sleeping as well.  Glad you don't need to boil water any more.

I went to the dermatologist this morning, and all is okay.  Then I visited DH.  He kept sleeping, and they did not eat lunch until late.  Larry managed to turn off the TV, so we had to get someone from the office to help.  Apparently, Larry has a "girlfriend" in another building, so he is spending time going to visit her.  Not too good since he is quite unstable, and keeps refusing to use his wheelchair.  I had to help him a few times when he was about to fall and the caregivers were busy with others (including DH).  There wasn't much time after I got home before I needed to leave for my bookclub.  I was pleased several people attended the meeting, including a few "winter visitors" who were back.  But, I was sad to learn that one of my buddies and her husband are planning to sell their house and move to Wyoming.  They already have a cabin there, but will be purchasing a house in town.

I need to write up the minutes of the meeting after dinner.  Guess I better eat now.

Hope all is well with you chessielady, and everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

I hope Pepper is better, Barbara. Times like this you wish they could tell you what is wrong. At least the change in your route will give you a few extra days to settle in before heading back to MN.

R is off to bowling. Smh. I told him in no uncertain terms that if he had problems he was to stop and come home. The last thing he needs is to mess up the surgery. I now he's right handed and it's the left that had the surgery  but still it's instinct to pick up the ball and support it with the other hand.

Linda, it's a shame your buddy will be  moving back to WY. I know you'll miss her. That Larry sure is a handful.

I've discovered Griff's fur at his neck is matted and I've been trying to work the mats out. Do you have any suggestions, chessielady? That long Pyrenees fur is tough to work with.

The leaves are really starting to change here. In the hills. We were driving around this morning trying to locate one of the Amish who does leatherwork.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

This might sound strange but I have used an old fashioned seam ripper. You slice down vertically thru the mats that splits them. Then you use a comb and run that thru the split mats. Having a steady dog really helps!! But I have used this method and not had to pull out half the skin with the mat! My favorite grooming tool is a Resco #80 comb. It gets thru the hair all the way down to the skin and does a good job keeping the hair untangled. Sometimes any brush just skims the surface. A heavy coated dog is a real treat isn't it?

We had a bit of rain today and the temps dropped down to the 40's. The dogs have been squirrels all day. Always happens when we have a big weather change...and heaven help us if that all happens during a full moon!

hope everyone has a good evening!

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Certainly sounds like you are having some cold weather, cheesielady.  It made to the low 90's today, and I think that we are supposed to have that sort of weather for the rest of the week at least.  No rain predicted.  Hope your dogs settle down.

R is really something, Claudia.  I can't imagine him bowling.  Really hope he doesn't hurt anything.

Hope your travels went well today, Barbara. Those fires in CA are awful.

Nothing too exciting today -- the senior lunch program went okay as did the gym.  DH wasn't as sleepy, but he has developed a couple of "bed sores", which worry me.  Hopefully, they can cure them with creams, etc., as well as moving him.  Sitting in the wheelchair all day has taken a toll on him.

Sleep well everyone!

Hugs,

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

we made it to Las Vegas safely. I forgot to put the exact address into mapquest so we ended up  in downtown at Fremont St. yikes..fortunately , I figured out how to get us to our resort. We have been here many times.

Today is acrelax day... I am tired. So I switched out my warm weather clothes and am doing laundry. Tomorrow we will go to our favorite casino.

M said Pepper is feeling better. Her vet told m to give her 2 to 3 small doses of  pepto bismol.

Linda..does Dh have one of those pressure sore mats or blankets for his wheelchair...

Claudia...hope r survived bowling. Did you get griefs fur unrated?

Chessielady..it sounds like fall is upon you. It has been chilly in Mn.

have a good day.
