Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Seam ripper and comb being ordered, chessielady. Thanks. It's cooler today. Only a high of 60°.

Linda, R managed to get through bowling last night and bowled with the seniors today. No stopping him. I hope you have found a solution for the bed sore problem.

When we got home from today's bowling I noticed Griff was not his normal self. He was confused than normal. When I sat at the computer armoire to shred mail he crowded in between my chair, the shredder and the armoire and laid down. When I called him to go out he was slow to respond. Usually he is right there. He just sat there at the top of the steps. When I pushed on his stomach he wimpered. So a quick call to the vet and we were off. Not bloat thank goodness and there doesn't seem to be any obstruction.  Just constipation and possible stomach upset. I gave him his meds and a couple hours later he seems to feel better.

R discovered the tap water has a very strong fluoride taste. We're wondering if that might have upset his stomach. So it's back to bottled water.

Glad you made it safely to LV, Barbara and found your way to the resort. Great that Pepper is better.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

So glad it wasn't bloat! That's always such a worry with the big dogs. Some dogs just are sensitive stomach wise. Have you heard of canine flu? I'm kind of concerned about one of the pups. He is coughing. No temp, still eating, just a wee bit punk. I'm watching and waiting. If that is what he has it will go thru my guys like the plague. I worry about the old ones...the younguns will be able to push thru but the old ones......The vet is always on speed dial! He knows not to mess with me!

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Do hope getting the mats out goes well. That is an old trick some of my doggy pals taught me!

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Good Evening!  Glad you made it to Las Vegas and have time to rest a little, Barbara.  Also happy that Pepper is better.

DH does have a cushion in his wheelchair.  I talked to the caregiver today, and she told me that the hospice caregiver brought in some new diapers with more padding.  They are thinking that there was probably moisture in there, and these diapers are more absorbent and better padded.  Hopefully, this will work.  He was pretty good today, but sleepy.  He did eat his lunch.

I found out that one of the ladies in his "house" is moving to the behavioral house on Friday.  Hopefully, this will be a good move for her, and it will be better in DH's house.

I was able to reach DH's DD by phone today, and she found some more details about the shooting on her street.  Most upsetting is that a bullet was in the outside of their house.  They did not tell the girls.  She also found that the victim is in the hospital where she works.  Also, she found that the police have place microphones throughout the city, and they heard the eight shots and were on the scene in three minutes.  Yikes!  They do live in the city, but certainly not a "bad" neighborhood or anything.

Glad Griff is doing better, Claudia.  R is really something with his bowling.  Certainly is cooler there.  Not here, however -- made it into the 90's today.  But, it is cool in the mornings, which is good for my walk.  That is a shame about the water.

I hope your dogs will be okay, chessielady, and that canine flu isn't causing problems with your dog.  I would be worried about the older dogs as well.  Fingers crossed that it is just a false alarm.

My SIL's first interview did not happen -- apparently the contract was disputed, so they cannot hire anyone.  Really hope he gets the other job.

I had an interesting class today (media), picked up my new glasses (ready early), and had my hair cut.  Sort of an impulse hair cut, but I'm happy that I got it done.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Another hot day here today (low 90's), but it was cool for my morning walk.  I was hoping that I would not need AC this late in the year, but it is needed now.

I went to the gym and the grocery today, and I arranged to have my Prolia medicine sent to the doctor (comes from a speciality pharmacy).  While they said it would not ship until the 24th, the doctor's office called to say it should be delivered tomorrow.  I have an appointment to get the shot on Monday.  Fast work.

My SIL's interview with the new company went well according to DD.  Hopefully, they will offer him a job.

The hospice nurse is supposed to visit DH this afternoon, and I'm planning to get there in plenty of  time to see her.

Not much else going on here.  Hope all is well with you Barbara, Claudia, and chessielady.  Have a nice evening everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Yikes for your dog's daughter and family, Linda. That would be a scary situation. Fingers crossed for your sil. R is off to his bowling. Third time this week. He can't figure out why he's tired. Smh. Griff thank heaven is improving. Still not back to normal behavior but better. I've been feeding him small amounts. Right now he's testing in his crate. I hope your pup is feeling better, chessielady. I have heard of canine flu. Hope the pup doesn't have it. Griff has a bout of bronchitis about a year ago. When he coughed he'd honk like a goose. Poor fellow. No need to look up my vet's number. It's memorized. Waiting to work on the mats till Griff is back to normal. Barbara, I hope you're relaxing and winning.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

actually, I did win, Claudia.   We went to our favorite casino off the strip about 10 miles north. I won about 100 dollars so I was happy. We had a nice lunch. We leave tomorrow for our Az Home.

Glad griff is feeling better. M said pepper is back to normal but she is not feeding her dog food...still on rice and chicken.

I have felt goo but am starting to feel “creaky” the I realized my infusion is less than a week away.

Linda..fingers crossed that sil gets his job. I have to read the book for my Az book club.hope Dh is doing well.

enjoy your evening. Sleep well.

Spoiler
When I posted it said spoiler. No idea why . Plus I lost my paragraphs.Griff continues to improve. Such a relief.

I need to find the fleece sheets before bedtime. It was cold last night and temperatures are dropping again. I woke up with cats sleeping on either side of me.

I'm glad your infusion is soon,  Barbara. Great that you won. I lead a sheltered life. We have never been to a casino.

I'm waiting till I'm sure Griff is better before working on the mats, chessielady. Hope your crew is doing well.

Linda, hope you have some solutions for DH and the bed sores. Is his f2f and family near those awful fires?

Heading to attic now before it gets darker.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

You would not need warm sheets here, Claudia.  Hope you find the fleece sheets, and you aren't so cold tonight.   I did not go to casinos before DH and I went to Vegas when we were exploring places to retire.  Since then, I have been to a few around here and in Vegas, etc.  The only time I did any "betting" was when I was given free turns at the slot machine.  Unlike Barbara, I lost all my credits and gave up.

Hope you do okay until your infusion, Barbara.  Glad Pepper is better.  Also glad Griff is better, Claudia.  I'm afraid R is incorrigible about bowling, Claudia.  Sure hope he takes a little break. The fires aren't that close to DH's DD's home, but she said the air is pretty bad.  She was glad none of them have asthma.  She has a friend who lives in the burn area, and so far, so good.  Those fires are awful.

DH was sleepy today, but a little less so than yesterday.  He was smiling, but leaning to one side.  The lady whose husband passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening was there cleaning out his room, and we had a good talk.  His death was unexpected, but she thinks it might have been a heart attack due to his diabetes.

I went to the nice pancake breakfast at the firehouse this morning, and then I went to an OLLI class.

DD told me some more details about my SIL's possible new job, and it does sound good.  The owner is away, so they want to check with her before making any sort of decision.  She might want to do a Skype type of interview (she is in India dealing with a family emergency).

I need to do some more cleaning and exercise now.  Waves to chessielady and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

We are safely in Phoenix...got here about 3 so made it from west to east before rush hour. We have to drive a lot of freeways and I like to avoid the big rush hour even though there were still 4 lane full of traffic going well over 65. It is always an adventure.

ionly found 2 dead scorpions. One of our big cacti is going because it blew over in a storm. I unpacked a little.. will work on more organization tomorrow. I am glad that I have a few days here.

I only gamble in vegas. V plays blackjack and idoslots. Once I win,I move to another machine..

have a a good evening.. 97 when we got here today.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of October 8

Glad you made it okay, Barbara.  It is cooler here, but still in the 90's.  Quite different than in other places.
