Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

Rod's recliner does not rock. I stopped to check lift recliners but the sales rep is not in today. Should have checked before. I also checked about the life insurance form I dropped off last month at the clinic. Each year R has to verify he cannot work in order to have his premium waived. They lost the form. Luckily I had a copy.

Once home I discovered the dogs in the back room with R. TT had pushed his way in when R went in. Since the fence installer was gone briefly I went to put the dogs out thinking Griff was sleeping in the lr. Nope. Upon hearing the back door open he leaped the gate across the back room doorway and pulled the wood doorframe lose on one side. Arghh.

No call yet about pt. I may have to call Erie.

That will be a pricey trip to nationals, Barbara. Hawaii sounded good to me at the time.

You certainly have your hands full between R and the dogs, Claudia.  Glad your back is better today.  Hugs.  I have had "one of those days" that makes me want to run away.  Why not Hawaii?  Heck, I'd take a nice resort in Arizona.

DH was pretty mean last night -- kept running into the bed, and swearing at me for getting him up.  He finally cut that out after dinner.  Of course, he just slept during the TV shows (Netflix), but he wasn't mean or running to the bedroom.  He was up quite a few times last night, and this morning I was putting on his shoes only to discover he had an accident in his pants.  He had no idea what happened.  Long story short, I ended up doing two loads of wash, using almost an entire can of disinfectant, and becoming hugely upset about the whole thing.  So upset that I mixed up the times.  Fortunately, we were able to take a walk, which was a good thing.

The senior lunch program went okay, but it was very hectic.  And, when we left, there was a strong, but brief thunderstorm.  He doesn't walk fast, even in the pouring rain, so we both ended up soaked to the skin.

The gym went okay, but was crowded.  He just came in and asked me if we were going to the gym.  I pointed out that we already went to the gym, and he said okay.  My patience is being tested to the max.

Of course, I'm very concerned about tomorrow, but I'm trying to think positive.

Glad you are getting things taken care of before your trip, Barbara.  Hope you have a wonderful time.  It would be great to see you when you are in Arizona, but I'm just not sure how things will be from day to day.

Sorry going to the Nationals will be an expensive trip, Barbara.  When do they take place?

Hope both of you have an okay evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

ETA -- I'm so glad Fran is okay.  I saw that her husband's water charity is helping out people on Columbia, SC who lost their water.  Yikes!

oh, Linda. You poor thing. Have you thought about using depends for him??? Maybe you need to talk to his dd about what is happening with his personality changes. You need a big break before this wears you down. Caring for n Alzheimer's patient takes a big toll on the caregiver . I worry about you.

many ((((hugs)))))

Thanks, Barbara.  I have been using Depends during the day, but not at night since he finds them uncomfortable.  That is going to change tonight.

I did talk to his DD about it yesterday evening.  She is sympathetic, but......

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

Back from my infusion. I am going to try to finalize hotel reservations for Virginia beach. We can use timeshare points so that will save a lot of money. V thinks he will drive out so we do not have the rental car cost.

i have my stuff pretty well organized for him to take on Friday.  There is not as much as usual.  Lol

linda, you really have your hands full. I know when my sil became incontinent, that did it for her dh....it was way too much for him to cope with. I hope his children are appreciative of all you do for him.

On on a brighter note, I am reading the 2nd novel of a trilogy about Eleanor of aquiitAne. It has inspired me to rewatch the Lion in Winter.  I would love your British history series.

i hope the day care goes well for you and dh. You need the break.

claudia...did pt ever contact you????  I hope r is willing todo the work required. Wonder how the critters will handle people coming in????

my headache is waiting to pounce so I want to take something to forestall it

I will check back

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

Glad you had your infusion, Barbara, and I hope the headache is not too horrible.  Good that you will save some money on the rental car in VA Beach.

Yesterday evening went pretty well, but DH got up at 2:00 in the morning, and decided it was time to get up for good.  He had been pretty restless until then, and I was having difficulty in sleeping.  Seems like some of my aches and pains just come out at night.  Anyway, it took time for me to convince him to go back to bed, and he did use the toilet.  Not perfect, but I'll take it.

He has been at the adult day services for nearly two hours now, and I'm hoping all is well.  They told me that when they serve beef or pork, they will just load him up with vegetables, etc.  And, they are giving him his TB test today.  I think I'll need to bring him back on Friday to have it read.

I went to the "farmers market" on the way home, and they had their usual stuff -- mostly jewelry, handicrafts, art, etc.  Very little food.  So, I didn't purchase anything.  Then, I went to the thrift shop -- found a $2 shirt for DH.  I was hoping for a lightweight jacket or something, but no luck.

Now I'm headed out to have my haircut.  I may take a nap later since I'm feeling a bit on the tired side.

Hope things are looking up for you, Claudia, and both of you have an okay or better day.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

Linda, what a difficult time you are having. I hope the daycare goes well today. It is so hard dealing with the personality loss, accidents, and forgetting the've already done something. How about both of us head for Hawaii? Not that I have the funds but one can dream.

Barbara, Adam's back room has an exterior door at the side of the house so we're using that. The nurse was here at 11. Once Griff realized someone was in there with us he was yelling about it. PT is coming at 3.

Over half the new fencing is up the other fencing including the gate will be put up tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

Barbara, I hope the headache is over soon. Fingers crossed you get that nap, Linda.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

Linda..hope the day care went well. I know you do not take meds but have your tried a nighttime ibuprofen...it has som antihistamine and pain reliever. I often take a pain med at night to deal with stuff per my Drs recommendation.

Have yiu asked dhs dr if he is developing sundowners syndrome...where they sleep during the day and early evening and then are very restless in the early hours of the morning.

Claudia..sounds as if you have the pt thing figured out

syd has gymnastics in a bit...v will take her. I am sitting quietly..lol.

sleep well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

DH did great at the day services, and I'm very pleased.  He didn't rush to leave when I arrived, and he said that there were some nice, helpful people there.  We will go back for a party on Friday afternoon (just one hour of music and snacks), and then he needs to have his TB test on Monday morning.  Unless something changes, I think Wednesdays will be a go.

I have tried some of those OTC sleep aids, but somehow they give me some very weird dreams etc., Babara.  But, maybe it is time to try again.  I do like the ibuprofen for the pain, although I am trying not to make it a nightly habit.  I may talk to my new doctor about my knee when I see him on Friday.  I know I have arthritis, but I have never been to a specialist or anything.  I'm wondering about a shot or something.  DH had one in his knee once, and it helped.

We don't go back to the neurologist until next month, but I'll try to remember about that syndrome.  He is so changeable -- very nice this afternoon, but keeps asking me about going to the store.  We stopped by the store on the way home.  I did ask him to be nice to me like he is to other people, and he said that he was nice and he loved me.  That was good to hear.  It is really day to day, hour to hour with him.

Glad the fence is getting done, Claudia.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of October 4

Linda, that's wonderful that DH did well at the daycare. I hope it continues. Maybe start a list of questions to ask the neurologist. You can jot them down as you think of them.

Both the nurse and pt came yesterday. The pt person is the same person I had when I shattered my femur. She remembered TT's cousin GN and Sam. Bo and Griff barked outside the door throughout both visits.

The fencing is being completed this morning. Very nice job.

The VA scheduled R for a follow up appt. next Thursday afternoon. He should get the staples out. That morning I pick Miss Boots up after her spay surgery and I'm to take the kittens in for their shots. I lined Adam up to help. I need to check what time. Somehow I lost my purse calendar.
