Good Evening! Do take your pain medication, Barbara. Pain certainly makes caregiving more difficult. I am glad V will be getting daily therapy, but sorry about his back. At least the weather is nice.
The hospice deliveries went okay -- no new patients, plus fewer stops and boxes. I made it home by the time I had planned (5:30).
Today, I went to a "newcomers" brown bag picnic at the "garden club" park. It was very nice, and all of us had been fully vaccinated. While it was outdoors, no one wanted to deal with unvaccinated people. Anyway, a lady came late (neighbor of a relative of one of the participants), and someone asked if she was vaccinated. When she said no, we asked that she wear a mask. She refused, and those of us near her moved our chairs away a bit. After a short while, she got up and left. She was pretty militant about it (her immune system was good, etc.), but we didn't hold our tongues. None of us were unhappy when she left.
I checked with my friend, Bev, and she isn't doing that well. While her radiation treatments are finished, the after effects (tiredness, etc.) are still bothering her. Plus, she had another painful injection in her eye yesterday. It was slightly less painful than the last shot, but she couldn't sleep and was really bothered by the pain. Like you, she didn't want to complain, but she said the last couple of months have been very hard on her. I repeat -- vent and complain to your friends. While we can't help, at least we can sympathize.
I think a lot of retail workers feel they are not being paid enough to put up with working conditions in the stores. Many customers are frustrated, and they take it out on the people who serve them. I am sure it is difficult sometimes. In one of the stores DGS was trying to staff (in Maine), he only had eight people so far -- including management. The goal is to have 40 employees when opening a new store. Very discouraging.
Sorry you overslept and are so worn out, Claudia. At least R's extractions didn't take as long as you feared, and the new shoes arrived. Glad the next appointment isn't so early.
I realized that I didn't buy as much fresh fruit as I would like, but I'm not sure that I feel like going to the store today. Perhaps tomorrow or Sunday. I am also interested in buying some more vegetables. I will be going to the gym soon.
Hope both of you sleep well tonight.
Hugs,
Linda
