Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

Purple is one of my favorite colors, Linda. I hope you get used to it. It sounds like your SIL had a good birthday. Changing dad's coding class would be upsetting given the expense. I'm glad you were able to help out.

R was in and out quickly at the VA. We had stopped for breakfast on the way o just drove home. He slept most of the way then once in the house slept more. Late afternoon the VA clinic called. Yesterday's lab work was good except he's anemic again. They're doing more lab work Friday before his acupuncture appointment.

Barbara, I'm so glad Pepper was found quickly. With our 1st two needles R forgot to hook the gate once. Paddington took MacBruin for a walk then came home but mac begin was half a block away holding up traffic.

Welcome, Dottie. I have lots of trouble finding comfortable shoes and slippers. Last year I ordered an Algeria tsv. They fit and were comfortable. So this year I decided to order another pair. What a disappointment. Same size but they were too tight. Back they went and I didn't reorder. Our rural area has limited stores so I mostly order online. i have cut back though. It's good the ginger candy helped you this time.

Several of R's Marine Corps reunions have been in Texas.

Our rural area is having an increase of Covid-19 cases.I'm glad your adult child is recovering. My outside work is hopefully done. I did too much yesterday when I mowed and raked so am paying for it today. Someone had to do it though and R isn't recovered enough from his hip replacement.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

Good Evening and welcome, Dotty.  I have been to San Antonio a couple of times (for work), and my late husband and I drove through Texas several times when we were going back and forth from Maryland to Arizona (south of Tucson).  Texas was such a large State that we often spent two nights there -- far East and far West.

Sorry about those slippers.  I almost never order shoes from here any more since I have trouble with the fit, and don't like paying for S&H.  Since I have Amazon Prime and don't go shopping in person much these days (except for groceries, etc.), I order shoes from them -- no S&H, and returns are easy.  At the moment, I have so many shoes that I am trying not to buy more.  It has been a long, hot, dry "summer" here in southern Arizona, but quite cool the past few days.

Hope R is doing okay today, Claudia.  Also hope you and your furbabies are doing okay.

Glad you didn't have any problems with the drive home, Barbara.  My heat came on again this morning.

Bev and I had a nice visit -- mostly outdoors, but then she was chilly, so we went indoors for a little while.  She has signed up for hospice, but is not in any pain at this time.  I had picked up a little angel for her at the local nursery (has a very special gift shop with collections from indigenous people throughout the world (particularly Central America).  Anyway, she loved her little angel which pleased me.  I had originally thought of another plant, but the angel called out to me.

As you may have read on the other thread, I ordered a web cam because the camera in my laptop isn't good at all.  I'm pretty excited to try it out, and DD is excited about receiving hers.

Other than my visit with Bev, nothing to report.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in the mountains, Barbara. A bonus is that it was an easy drive. It's good Peppers weight is under control.

I really enjoyed our stay in San Antonio except for the reunion hotel being at the end of the river walk. Before Covid I had thought maybe we could take a short trip back this winter. Little did I know. R's other Texas reunion was in Houston and being August it was HOT. For a few years my brother worked in San Angelo in avionics.

My leg felt much better today. I took the fleece throws up to our groomers rescue then went on to Wegmans  and Aldi's before picking up the raw milk.

We went to Bob Evans for the Veterans Day dinner. Adam called tonight and talked to his dad. He left work late and was one of the first to come upon an accident at his exit on the interstate. The small car ahead of him hadn't been able to stop in time and back ended the larger vehicle in front. Adam and the vehicle behind him were able to stop in time and helped the occupants of the vehicle. The injuries didn't appear too serious and his Army training kicked in.

I'm glad you and Bev enjoyed the visit and she loved the angel. You had to pick the angel since that called to you.

Tomorrow well see if R's calf of his leg has improved. He's talking of going to the range this weekend. I told him only if he's wearing jeans. Even then bubble wrap might be a good idea.

Locally employees at Blair got the news that the warehouse and shipping departments are closing and moving to Georgia. The store closed last year and the building downtown has been empty. The original building is art deco. The writing has been on the wall the past few years since the company was sold.

68° today and overcast. I'll take it though.

Have a good evening and sleep well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

I did not realize how late it is..that is how much fun I am having..not..lol. I can't really say that I accomplished anything. The house got pretty cold when we were gone and I had to run the heat at 73 for a couple f hours to get it comfortable. It is to be in the 80s next week.

I have found several books to read so that entertains me..plus I am crocheting sleeping mats for the homeless out of the plastic bags that i rolled.I can only do a couple of rows at a time.

Linda.that was a lovely gift you gave Bev. I am lucky because my iPad has a great camera on it..I just did a telemedicine visit and it was perfect. I hope you enjoy your camera.hope your day has been good.

Claudia..glad you had a nice dinner for vets day. That was fortunate that Adam was on the scene of the accident. I hope if he goes out this weekend he behaves. Lol

I have our COVID safe choir practice tonight. That is my excitement for today.

I am sad at how out of control things seem now. A more measured hand will help in the near future.

sleep well. 💖💖

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

Glad your leg was better yesterday, Claudia.  Hope R's appointment went okay today, and he is careful if he goes out this weekend.  Good that you had the Veteran's Day meal and Adam called.

Hope the choir practice goes well, Barbara.  For some reason, I had a lot of trouble with my mask this morning when I went to the grocery store, but by the time I made it to the second one, I was okay.  I think I was concentrating too much on my breathing which fogged up my glasses.

Glad you have your books to entertain you.  My old Ipad has a better camera than this laptop, but I like the size of the monitor on the laptop.  So, the web cam idea appeals to me.

It was quite chilly here this morning, and the heat came on for a while.  I have decided not to get up quite as early because when it is dark and cold, I just can't motivate myself to jump out of bed and get moving.  Like in your area, they are predicting much warmer than normal temperatures next week.

As you may see on the other thread, one of "my" hospice patients died just before I came to deliver his supplies.  It made me sad, but I know this is part of hospice.

I have the mailings to do this evening, and I will be delivering some supplies to the assisted living places tomorrow.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

R got the compression wrap off his leg this morning. Hopefully it continues to heal. His VA doctor said if he has a problem he should let them know right away. He'll start the aquatic PT up again Monday.

Tomorrow he gets more lab tests for the anemia problem plus his acupuncture.

Linda, I hate when my glasses fog up.  Most times they don't but the times they do are frustrating.

That is too bad about the hospice patient. I know it's part of hospice but its never easy.

I prefer to stay in bed when it's still dark out. Before I'd get up because Miss Boots would settle on my hip when she thought I should get up. Now I stay put for  bit longer. 5 years was too short a time to have her.

R met the kittens today when he needed something from his workroom. Not a peep out of either one and they pretended they were statues. I did pick Widget up for him to see. I'm hoping Spookit who's in the spare room adapts to the bigger cats and have been leaving the spare room door open. I'm lucky this is an older house and not one with an open floor plan.

Adam often works weekends. Last night he worked later than usual as he was the only one qualified to administer a test.

Barbara, I hope choir practice goes well. Enjoy your books. Good for you crocheting the sleeping  mats. Even doing a few rows at a time gets it done.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS -- Week of November 8th

Glad R can go back to his PT, Claudia.  Like Barbara, I am curious about what he thought of the kittens (shall I call them scaredy-cats?), LOL  Sounds like Adam is a big asset for his business.  I am also glad he could help with that accident.

Sorry you aren't doing well today, Barbara.  Good that you got your groceries.  I didn't actually get DGS' pictures, just saw them on Facebook.

DD told me the sweetest thing.  His wife wanted two of his best buddies to visit them in New Hampshire (both live in Maryland), and his siblings paid for them to fly up there for the weekend.  What a wonderful present.  It is nice that he has such good friends.  DD likes one of them so much she would like to set him up with DGD.  He is single, but who knows if he would be interested.

Meanwhile DGD went to the neurologist today, and he recommended she go to a headache specialist practice in VA to get botox treatments (assuming they agree with his diagnosis).  He does not do those sorts of treatments, but he has sent other patients who have had success with them.  By great luck, they had a cancellation for next Thursday.  Hopefully, this will help.  DGD is better, but still has problems.

I am happy with the warmer (but not hot weather), Barbara.  Like you, I have the doors open, and I have been doing some outdoor cleaning.  Also planted a new geranium I bought at the nursery.  Fingers crossed that it grows okay.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
