Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Linda...those were some great suggestions from Coupon Queen. I have to tell you I do not think the wheel chair is a good idea...you are very tiny and that is a lot of weight to push...I would guess around 175 or more. If you were in that much pain last night, I would hate to see your injure yourself.

you have a very full plate with him...but he sounds like such a sweet guy. I now understand the toilet ing issues better...I still find his kids very derelict of duty to not be more active in his care.

I realize that that I was very fortunate to have the help I had ...my brothers flew I. Often to help, and do things. Of course v was a big help...

Hang in there...feel free to vent anytime. You can also call me,

i ran ran errands this morning, got Syd off to school and plan on taking her to get flowers and veggies for the planters and her garden after school.

Claudia, hope you loved Paris.

hope your day goes well,Linda.(()))hugs)))🌹🌹🌹

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Good morning...Syd and I had a successful garden shopping trip...I usually plant 3 kinds of flowers in my front planters. But I found some bigger pots pre planted with several different varieties. I just need to pop them in the planters...much easier.

m is pretty stressed about her job..her company has been bought out and rumor has it she may have to move far away. That would be a no go for her..she cannot function without her support system here. I am trying to reassure her that many more things will change before anything is finalized.

Linda...I am glad your dd is supportive...I am sure she worries a lot about the toll the caregiving is taking on you. I hope your day went okay yesterday.

I am doing some house maintenance..sweeping etc...really not too exciting..lol.

our street is a big mess..hope it does not rain.

Claudia...are you home yet???

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Good Evening!  That sounds like a good idea for the plants, Barbara.  Hope the rain holds off.  So sorry about M's job.  Hope things work out for her.  I imagine the fact that she had a period of unemployment makes her nervous about finding another local job.  Fingers crossed she doesn't need to find one, or it is easier and faster this time.

DGS went down to the college to talk to a counselor, and he applied for a few jobs right then.  They also receive inquiries from some employers interested in hiring for hopefully, he will find a good job.  Meanwhile -- drum roll -- Army DGS passed his PT test -- what a relief.

My new computer came, and I am still working to get everything set up.  I am still working to de-clutter things, and at this point everything is a mess.  But, eventually things should be a lot better.  Wish I was a "natural" at this, but at least I'm working on it very seriously.

Hope you are doing well Claudia, and getting over jet lag if you are back.

Sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

I will leave for knitting in a little bit.  Our street is a huge mess but the construction crew is very accommodating to get residents in and out. Pepper has been naughty this morning...p***ped in the house, which she hasn't done for a few weeks and then escaped out the door when Syd and I were leaving...Syd had to run...at least she can out run the dog.

Linda, glad that dgs passed his pt test...good for him.fingers crossed that oldest dgs can get a good job....isn't he in some kind of tech field???!  Glad you have decided against the wheelchair...there is a trick to using one. I have no idea what it is.  Sounds like you had a good day yesterday. Hope today. Is also one for you.

i want to get my flowers planted this afternoon...v has to get a hose out...my hands are so bad that I cannot connect it to the spigot.

i will check back later.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Sorry about Pepper.  I can really appreciate your problem with the spigot now that my hands have osteoarthritis.  It is amazing what I can't or have trouble doing these days.  Very frustrating to say the least.  And, you have RA which is much worse.  Have fun at knitting.  In the end, DGS majored in business administration.

I am pretty sure I won't use the wheelchair since it was such a disaster the first time I tried.  If the nurse can give me some suggestions to help, I might try to give it a go again.  There are probably tricks to using it, but I think DH is just to heavy for me .  He has gained weight in the past year, and I have not (he is somewhere between 185 and 190 pounds, and I'm about 110 pounds).  Also, I am not known for my upper body strength.

I'm slowly trying to get the new computer up and running.  It is amazing how many links/accounts, etc. that I have.  Most require registering the new computer, which takes time.  I also needed to get the printer connected, etc.  Still trying to figure out how to transfer all my pictures.

DH was pretty out of it this morning, but I'm hoping for the best.  Glad I didn't need to be anywhere until 12:15 or so.  It may take me that long to get things going.  LOL

I have done a little cleaning, and I'm trying very hard not to be overwhelmed by all that needs to be done.

Hope you are doing okay, Claudia, and have a chance to check in with us.

Have a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Linda...I remember pushing my mom through airports years ago....she weighed about 125 and I am taller and bigger than you .it was very difficult to say the least.

With th my hands I have some tools to help open jars etc...it can be hard.

hope your dh is doing better this afternoon. Good luck with setting up the computer...I have done that and it is a tedious job.

knitting was fun..I am going to plant my flowers.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Congratulatins on DGS passing the pt test, Linda. What a relief  to him.

Dogs are home and so far behaving. I need to go out for groceries.

Huge crowds everywhere we went in Paris. Due to crowds we were at least 30 minutes behind schedule at the Eiffel Tower so had to rush through the champagne lunch there then had quite a wait for the lifts. We got to the boat ride just in time. The Louvre of course is closed Tuesdays so we had time at the shopping area there though I didn't buy anything. The public toilets were closed so we had to pay 1.50 in Euros to use a bathroom.

I was surprised how little legroom we had on the Eurostar riding in 1st class. Flying home I upgraded us to business class. Security seemed pretty tight when we flew out and that was the day before the Egypt Air flight went down.

Once home we discovered the next door neighbor had died. His dad died about a month ago and Matt died the past weekend from liver failure. I wonder what will happen to the house now- whether it will go to the estranged wife and his 2 children or to his sisters.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Welcome home, Claudia.  I remember Paris as being very crowded as well.  I did  not want to go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower due to my fear of heights, and it turned out to be a good decision at least the first day we were there since I think there was a strike or something, and people trying to go up were stopped at lower floors before being evacuated.  It was open when we returned after visiting other cities, but.... Our hotel was close by, so we did walk around it, and see it at night, etc.   I did not realize that about the Louvre  being closed on Tuesdays.  DH did not go, but I went on an extra trip there -- it was horribly crowded, but I was happy to go there.  Bathrooms seem to be a problem on many trips overseas.  Glad you were able to have more leg room on the way home.  Sorry about your neighbor.

The caregiver just showed up -- nearly 25 minutes late, but she is a sweetheart, and so good with DH.  He wasn't in good shape yesterday.  Tired and sleeping a lot, and he had multiple accidents, etc.  I thought he might have a cold, but the nurse said it was probably allergies, so I gave him an OTC allergy pill.  She told me that the wheelchair they sent was larger than what she ordered, and she agreed that I should not try to use it.  However, she told me to keep it just in case it should be come necessary.  Apparently, as the disease progresses, they often cannot walk and have trouble swallowing.  I told her that if he could not walk, I would need to put him into a facility, and she said that was often the case.  At our caregivers meeting (great as usual), one of the ladies told us her DH is scheduled to go to one in early June.  He is very bad off -- trouble walking, incontinent (big time), etc., and she is in remission from leukemia.  We all ended up sharing our stories and concerns, and crying.  It is such a hard road to travel.  But, very good to have others to share experiences, concerns, etc.

The computer seems to be pretty much up and running, thank goodness.

DGS is at Reserves this weekend (weapons training), and DD does not know if this means that he will not go to the special PT class or not.  I would guess not, but..... They will be having a family plus few friends party on Sunday evening (I think) to celebrate the graduations.  Apparently, oldest DGS has found a girl to date at work, and she also has a 16 year old sister.  She suggested taking the sisters to the movies, and I think they will be doing that this weekend or next.

Hope things are going okay with you Barbara, and both of you have a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 15

Claudia...sounds like you had a good but tiring trip. Paris is my favorite city. She we went to the major sites, we did so as soon as they opened up...of course, we were not on a tour. Fling in business was a good idea. Sorry about the neighbor but glad the doggies are behaving.

Linda, it is good that you have your caregivers group. My sil is completely bed ridden...and eats very little ..she was a big woman and has lost half of her body weight. It is a sad, difficult disease. Nice that dgs has a girlfriend..the psparty sounds nice too.

Planting about out put me into the bed yesterday...lol. So I am not doing a lot today. I filled another bag with clothes donations...

syd slept in in her repaired bed, which made m happy. She has 5 recitals this weekend...so will be a busy girl.

Linda, hope your day is better than yesterday. Claudia, rest up.
