Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

Good Afternoon/Evening!  That is funny about the font size, Barbara.  Looks like the "large print" books I sometimes borrow from the library.  It seems that some books are available in large print sooner than the regular print.  I just picked up one today from the Japanese organizer lady.  I finished the other minimalist book last night.

I was pretty upset yesterday since the head of day services told me that DH has started to walk/wander around, and isn't participating in activities.  She suggested he might be suffering from anxiety.  I'll ask the hospice nurse this afternoon.  I gave him an anti-anxiety pill the nurse gave me when we got home, but he still was a bit restless.  Not as bad as the previous afternoons.  Later she called and asked me to bring a urinal (small plastic type) since he is having bathroom issues as well.  Just to add to the fun, he had an accident yesterday evening and in the middle of the night (3:15 or so), and he got up again around 4:15.  He just doesn't seem to be able to figure out where to pee or what is going on.

I went to a caregiver lunch and then meeting today, and I'll be picking him up soon.  I really don't know what I can do if they won't take him in day services.  I don't think I can handle things without having that break.

I dropped off a bunch of things at the thrift shop, and I'm still planning to work on de-cluttering.  Now if I can convince myself not to buy new things.

Hope your day has gone well, Claudia, and both of you have a nice evening!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

oh, what a rough time you've had, Linda. You definitely need your breaks. I hope this is just a phase and he settles down.

I was awoken at 5:30 this morning by Titan barking. I knew from the sound it was a precursor to him getting into it with Griff. I got downstairs as fast as possible. He had Griff cornered by the tv armoire and was blocking access to the crate. All I could do was hang on to Griff while R attempted to get TT out of the room. TT has been trying to assert himself lately.

R said TT had been sick on the back porch and Griff was upset over it. After breakfast TT was sick again. This time in the living room. Griff got upset again so off to his crate he went for a short time. The vet must have closed for a whole day instead of half as the call went to messages. A bit ago we cooked up chicken and rice and he's kept that down.

I went to the dreaded dentist appt and don't go back for six months. We mowed and trimmed out back since the rain held off. Hopefully Monday I can mow out front and go over the back yard again. The grass grows fast out back.

I just discovered Tigger cat's rabies update is due while we're gone so I'll take her to the clinic Saturday at Tractor Supply. Then I scheduled an overlooked oil change for the suv for Monday.

I hope you're feeling better,Barbara. Aren't you due for an infusion soon?

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

Linda...you really have your hands full. I know restlessness, wandering can be part of Alzheimer's...my sil had to be locked in the house so she could not get out.  This could also be a pssing phase...I would hope the hospice nurse might have some ideas...I hope day care will keep him. Many ((((hugs)))))

Claudia...yikes with tt and griff..hope you can get the behavior issues figured out. I

yes, my infusion is next week.

v is at v3s house..yippee. Pepper is hauling my sandals around..I had better go rescue them

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

V made good time, Barbara. He'll be home soon. Get that list ready- lol.

Oh woe is me that darn refrigerator acted up again. R took all the food and shelving out and manually defrosted it. The freezer went back to its normal temperature. The fridge is at 80 degrees. It's so close to when we leave R said if the freezer is working we won't replace the fridge till we get back.

TT and Griff almost got into it again as Griff started resource guarding the laundry basket of food items. I had to quickly stuff him into the kitchen and move the food into the back room.

Linda, I hope tonight is a much better night for you and your DH.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

So sorry to hear about Pepper.  Hope she will be fine very soon, Barbara.  Glad you are happy with your haircut.  I was not happy with my last haircut, and I think I'll be having it cut again soon -- hope to have my regular stylist this time.  Good idea to return the shoes and buy the trusted ones.  I have that same problem.  Sometimes shoes look so nice on-line or TV, but really don't work for me.

Really hate it when appliances like refrigerators break on me, Claudia.  Hope the freezer holds out until you return from your trip.  Yikes!  Sorry your dogs are getting into it -- not what you need for sure.

I think things might have been better at day services yesterday, but I am becoming more and more convinced that things are going downhill for DH.  The nurse said to try half an anxiety pill for DH (help but not put him to sleep).  And, that his elimination issues, wandering, etc., are probably just part of the disease.  She asked him a bunch of questions, and he gave different answers than me -- all is fine, etc.  I think he just doesn't know what he is doing.  She decided to order a walker for him, but I'm not sure that will help.

He got up at 2:30 or so last night, and I was in deep sleep before that happened.  Not fun.  He got up again just before I did.  His caregiver came, and I thought all was well until I had him go to the bathroom one more time before we left.  Another mess.

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself, but I don't think I can continue to do this for a long time.  Trying to be strong and kind, but not stress out..

The caregivers lunch was nice as was the meeting.  I took a walk after I dropped DH off at day services, and I'll be leaving for the gym soon.  The OLLI (classes) marketing committee is meeting this afternoon, and I may not have much time after the meeting before I need to pick up DH.

Still working on de-cluttering -- good feeling for sure.

Hope both of you have a nice day.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

Linda, I think you have a good attitude with recognizing your limits with caregiving.

i do not mean to belabor my sil, but it got to a point where my bil could not leave her alone. He had to move her downstairs because she could not maneuver stairs or even walk well. She was totally incontinent and really required 24 hour care. He said when he left her, he was sad but felt such physical and mental relief. She has gotten excellent care and is in the end stages. And she is 8 months older than I.

Dh is not at that point yet, but please tee care of yourself. I think you have found a good place when you have to make that decision.

Pepper is finally perking up. 😍

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

I'm happy Pepper is perking up. Does the vet have any idea what her problem was, Barbara?

We were going to replace the fridge  couple months ago then R got it working again and decided to wait. This time it will be replaced. It may not bother him but it bothers me.

TT went to the vet this afternoon even though he seemed better. Temperature was normal but she said other dogs have had the same problem so put him on an antibiotic.

Linda, it is good to recognize your limits and you know DH best as you are there 24/7. I'm sure it's a big relief having found a good place for him.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of May 1

Good morning....it is cooler today...got up to 94 yesterday, which is hot for this time of year. I woke up last nigh to the wind beating ob the windows and a smoky smell. I knew it wasn't in the house because we have alarms all over. There is a fire 200 miles north of here that sent the smoke. In addition the smoke from the fire in Canada has arrived. So it will be a hazy day.

i have 3 bouquets of flowers for Mother's Day...from m, v and v3. I was surprised but hey are all good to me.

i ordered the tsv and a matching tank...thought it might be nice for nationals...I do not find liquid knit to be too hot in hot weather.

Claudia...ms friend, who is a vet, wants Pepper to be tested for giardiasis. So m will do that when she gets back from dance. The puppy is better but still will not eat or drink a lot.

Syd has a sleepover at one of her friends houses tonight.

my joints continue to be weird. Yikes,

hope we your day is going well.
