Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

I'm sorry M's doctor feels the procedure did not help her much, Barbara. I hope with a 2nd opinion they can find a treatment that will help.

I hope Sydnie gets good advice as to what colleges would be best for her and financial aid.

Still no word about an appointment with a vascular surgeon. Last week he inquired at the clinic when he got his acupuncture but all they said was the referral was made.

Linda, I hope your DGD's appointment with the specialist can pinpoint the problem and help her. Waiting is frustrating to say the least. I hope youngest DGS is starting to recover from the virus.

Also hope things work out for your SIL this time.

R is watching another series having binge watched Bolivar. Better than having news on.

I picked a few things up from Wal-Mart that were needed. I really must remember to make a list and order pickup. I noticed pet food is limited again. I also noticed over on the far side from where paper towels and bathroom tissue and cleaning supplies usually are they had a whole double row stocked. Maybe they're expecting another shortage. Plastic storage bins also seem scarce.

I hate having to go from one end of the store to the other. Pet supplies on one side food on the other. My knees and hip are not happy by the time I finish especially after waiting in line. That alone should be incentive to order pickup.

Have a nice evening.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

Good afternoon.I am back from a target run to pick up my Restasis script for my dry eyes. It is a bit of a drive..about 10 miles away.,now I have to finish vs haircut that he started.

Sydnie called and asked what she could do about her honors chem teacher who does not teach.,she and several of her classmates are upset. I suggested that she contact her counselor as the other kids should. I am going to suggest m do the same. I was appalled when I listened to his attempt to do nothing.

Linda..prayers for your sil....that is scary, but a good thing he is in the hospital.I think everyone will have to quarantine for 14 days. Your poor dd..please keep us up to date.

Syds meeting with the college advisor program sounds very promising.

Claudia..I had to traipse all over Walmart yesterday and I felt it when I got home.I like targets layout better.

we are on a waiting list for the vaccine at a local clinic.the closest vaccine site is 30 miles away, on the west side of Phoenix.

hope yourvday is going well. 💖💖

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

Good Afternoon!  Just heard from the hospice volunteer coordinator that the supplies just arrived, and he hopes to have them ready by 4:00 p.m.   Not good.  Certainly hope I don't have any delivery issues.  I don't like driving after dark.

Hope V heard back about the vascular surgeon appointment, Claudia.  I'm not sure youngest DGS has COVID (still waiting for the results), but my SIL does.  As you probably read on the other thread, he is being admitted to the hospital.  DD took him to urgent care, and they said he has pneumonia as well.  Needless to say, DD is quite upset.

As Barbara suggested the rest of the family (DD, youngest DGS, and DGD) will need to be quarantined, but I think it is 10 days now rather than 14.  DD and the others have been suffering from "colds" -- no fever, etc., but the doctor said they probably have the virus as well.

Glad you were able to get your medication, Barbara.  Sounds like good advice for Syd and M.  That teacher must be very bad.

One of my friends sent information about the vaccine this morning, which I sent out to quite a few people.  Long story short, the information was for the State, and the county has its own procedures.  Before I knew that, I started the registration process with the State, but there were no openings for months.  I figured it was because of my "tender" age.  Anyway, the County is starting with signing people 75 up, and said those under 85 should probably hold off since the 85+ people will be first after health care people, etc.  I will give it a rest for a while unless they come out with new criteria.  Glad you and V are on the waitlist at least, Barbara.  I keep seeing the vaccine being given out in Phoenix, but there are no places in my town at this point.  So, even if I were 85, I'd need to go up to Tucson.

My grocery store visit was uneventful except for one shopper (lady) who really got on my nerves.  She wore a mask to get into the store, but pulled it down in the produce section.  She had a question for one of the stock guys, and pulled her mask up, then down, etc.  What a stupid game.  It didn't help that I had just heard about my SIL.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

Just got some positive news.  My son-in-law has undergone many tests at the hospital, and they do not think he has pneumonia.. Also, they are not sure he has COVID since the rapid test is not always accurate.  They do want him to have the monoclonal antibody therapy, and they are trying to get approval for him to do so.

In the meantime, DD is picking him up from the hospital and he will rest at home.  Of course, if he has breathing problems, etc., he will need to go back to the hospital.  They didn't have any beds available in any case, so he would probably need to go to a different hospital.

I'm feeling a little better now, and so is DD of course.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

I'm glad Sydnie's meeting went well, Barbara.. I hope something can be done regarding her teacher. What a shame. Glad you got your medication.

I avoided Wal-Mart but stopped at Tractor Supply today. I had a 10% off coupon. They seemed well stocked for the most part. I needed canned cat food. I like to keep a month's supply of that, cat litter, and dog food. The closest Target is Erie. I picked up the farm milk before heading home.

Still no word about R's referral. It will be a month on Sunday. I keep reminding him to get up every so often and move around but he doesn't do it as much as he should.

Linda, I'm sorry your SIL has the double whammy of pneumonia and Covid. I'm sure your DD is very upset plus the rest of the family. I hope he has a good recovery and is out of the hospital soon. Fingers crossed you got your deliveries done before dark.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

it is a beautiful Az day...I love the sunshine. We have skylights so it is nice and bright in here. I am trying to get enough groceries in so I can avoid getting any for a while. I am going to make bread and soup for a few meals.

Sydnie had to make an audition tape that had a script or side as it is callled. M sent it to me and she is so much more mature and confident, her LlA training was very evident . No guarantees but I was surprised. She taped herself.

Linda..hope dd and family are hanging in there. Amie has a stockpile of food and a freezer so she did not have to worry.  Deliveries are hard to do with an incorrect address.

Claudia..hope you get that referral soon for R.

I am hoping that our new president will get the vaccine rollout organized. The pharmacist at cvs yesterday told me, they will have it available down the road.

Have a peaceful day 🌵🌵

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

Good Evening!  It was a lovely Arizona day here as well, Barbara.  Started off chilly, but warmed up nicely.  On my walk, a lady called out that it was a nice winter afternoon with no need for snowblowing.  Guess she is new here or maybe a "snowbird".

Hope R hears back soon, Claudia.  I have gone through stages -- at first, I was intimidated by big stores where you had to walk and walk -- particularly Home Depot, Walmart, Sam's Club, etc..  Then, I liked them since it was a good way to get in some steps and have something to look at as well. Now, I just want to get in and out of the store as soon as possible, so walking around is not fun.  Of course, I haven't had serious knee problems, which makes a big difference.

Glad Syd's tape is so good, Barbara.  I have seen some stories about how actors/models, etc. are trying to both work and keep safe.  Making soup and bread sounds like a good idea and very tasty..

I haven't heard from DD this afternoon, so I assume things are going the same.  She is super stressed and not feeling well.  But, I know she is happy my SIL seems not to be any worse.  She was threatening that they would need to change their diet and exercise pattern after this is over.  She is very faithful about both, but the other three are not.  And, while she doesn't buy junk foods, etc., apparently DGS and DGD do.  And, they eat a lot of it apparently.

While no one is perfect, I am pretty frustrated about getting the wrong address two weeks in a row.  The volunteer coordinator said that he was doing too many things, and needs to take more time to make sure things are right.  When I was signing forms about my work hours for the past several months, I noticed that I am doing the most volunteering by far.  That was interesting.  I also discovered that the other two volunteers are getting compensated for their mileage which I am not doing.  I figured that was part of my contribution to hospice, and don't intend to ask for any compensation.

I think it was due to the stress and tiredness, but I had a headache much of the day.  Finally feeling okay.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

Soup  and bread makes a good filling meal, Barbara. That's great Sydnie made such a good tape without assistance.

It was windy and cold here. The wind blew the ferals food dishes right off the porch. They're now more sheltered. No word on the porch reconstruction but I hear treated lumber in any quantity is still difficult to find.

I'm glad your SIL is no worse, Linda. At least he's home though your DD must be exhausted along with not feeling well herself. I hope things improve at your DD's.

I need to find more comfortable seating for R's workroom that is not heavy as I'll have to get it upstairs. Nugget and Widget are still in there. I've been using a stool on wheels with no back so far and it's not comfortable. Nugget loves being held.

I probably would not ask for mileage compensation either.

Sleep well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

good afternoon..I felt good but I think I overdid on the cleaning...yikes. So I am not going to do a lot this afternoon. I have some soup in the freezer that I pulled out for dinner.

Linda..it sounds from the other thread as if dds family are doing ok. Re junk food: I keep none here except for wheat thins and an occasional qt of ice cream. Sydnie eats none nor does Amies family. ,now v3 and his crew are not as careful. I hope dd can get her family to change..you have said she is very careful herself.

I actually do have a bag of donations left over from last spring when nothing was open lol

My rheumatologist visit has been changed to a telemedicine one. Because I just saw my Mn dr for an actual visit and exam I am fine with that.

the weather is in the 7s here Clauda. Hope you can find a good seat for the workroom.

I used mileage compensation when I was a principal because we had many meeting to attend.when I worked for the superintendent I was visiting schools daily and it paid for my gas.,

enjoy. 🌵🌵😍

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, Week of January 10

Good Afternoon!  Nice and warm here as well, Barbara.  Hope it isn't too cold and windy there, Claudia.  Also hope you are able to find some comfortable seating.  I know my back, etc., really isn't happy if the chair isn't comfortable, and a no back one would not be good at all.

Sorry you overdid it yesterday, Barbara.  Glad you are fine with the telemedicine visit.  One less chance of exposure.  It is difficult to find a place for donations these days.

My SIL got her first vaccination the other day, and she had some minor reactions -- very sore arm, chills, and vertigo.  But, she is mostly better now.

DD and family do seem better today.  Hopefully, that will continue.

Like you, I used to put in for mileage when I was working -- mainly when I took trips for conferences/exhibits.  Often it was mileage to and from the airport, but sometimes driving to places.  However, I didn't think about doing it for hospice.  They told me that I could, but....

My apple dessert is cooking away, and I have all the vegetables chopped for the soup that I am making in the Instant Pot.  Hope I like the taste.  The recipe is designed for you to pick what vegetables to add to the onions, garlic, etc.  I made a mixture of carrots, celery, broccoli, etc  When it cooks, you use an immersion blender and then top it with more vegetables when it is served.

Hope both of you and your husbands have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
