Linda I refinanced my house in 2012 because I could get an interest rate that was half of what I was already paying. I knew I wanted the house paid off in 6 years so I went through all of the nonsense. Whoever said that re-fi is like re-buy wasn't kidding - the paperwork for the refi was as bad as when I first bought the house.

Good Morning from chilly Arizona. It got down to 22 degrees last night, and has climbed up to 29 degrees as of 9:30. The high today is expected to be in the upper 40's and cold again tonight. Then, it should start to warm up again. Fortunately, my pipes did not freeze, but the cold is affecting my arthritic knee -- hurting enough to require some attention last night.
I hope V is out of the hospital, Barbara. Probably good to keep him a bit extra, but hard on you. Hope you can take it easier today, and V will be fine. I will probably order some yoga socks from Amazon, but it won't help for yoga class today. There are several choices, and I am still making up my mind.
Like Claudia, my house in Maryland had a smoke detector at the top of the stairs. Not only that, a regular ladder was difficult to fit there. Frightening to change the battery. I'm glad I have a one-story house here. The local "fire corps" (volunteers) will change your smoke detector batteries every year for a small fee. I might resort to that if/when standing on a stool becomes difficult for me. Somehow, my ladder has disappeared.
Glad you had such a delicious lunch, Claudia. That is something about R's curiosity about refinancing. Those guys were very quick on the draw with the return phone calls. I'm with you -- don't take out a mortgage now that you had it paid off. I am happy that Army DGS has such a good friend, and I really hope things work out with them.
DH's DD used to pick up some plastic bags when she visited. Her area had banned them (I think). Arizona is a totally different story.
That is something about your re-finance, Bernie. I guess I am lucky that I never went through the process. I sold my Maryland house to a Chinese couple, and there was a translator there which took some time. Pretty excruciating when we were planning to start driving to Arizona as soon as the closing was over.
I'm doing a little cooking this morning, and I have yoga class later. I have done all that I can do with Turbo Tax until I receive some more forms. Some are promised to arrive next week, but the other not until the end of the month. I don't think I will owe any Federal taxes, but I'm not sure. Also not sure about the State. After this year (only my income), I should have a better idea.
Hope everyone has a nice day!
Hugs,
Linda

Good afternoon..I have been at the hospital for almost 2 hours waiting for v to be discharged..I hate hurry up and wait...Hope it happens soon.
it was 34 when I took pepper out this morning...I am still dressed in layers...it should get better here too in the next few days.
our wonderful (not) paper person managed to break a pot that I had a plantin and increase the window damage. Fortunately, they are willing to repair it.
Sydnie broke her ankle last night I dance..it is a stress fracture..SHE IS VERY UPSET as is her dance teacher. She is getting a boot this afternoon.
Claudia..you do have to keep your eyes on r..he manages to get into trouble with the internet and tv ads..arghhh
Lunda...it is nice for dd that the kids are leaving the nest...
time to go..have a good day.😘😘

I can just imagine how upset Sydnie is. I hope it heals well and she doesn't need the boot for long. It went from the low 20's up to the low 40's today. I hate the hurry up and wait also. Hopefully you and V will be home soon.
I stayed home while at went to his bowling. Still coughing and I have a slight headache. I did phone my friend who cat sits and had a nice chat with her.
One of her cats is fascinated with the phone (landline). She keeps it on the bed so she can reach it essily. One day her husband took her to get her hair done. While there he got a call on his cell phone. It seems cat had called 911. When 911 called back they got no response so alerted the state police. If course no one was home. Luckily they had Charlie's cell phone #. During the time we talked the cat disconnected us twice and put me on speaker then mute.
I hope your yoga class went well, Linda. We don't have all our tax info yet.
I need to get a cat carrier out of the attic. Crossing my fingers the weather will be ok mid morning for our trip to the vet.

So sorry for Syd. I hope she recovers quickly, Barbara. What a bummer. Like you and Claudia, I hate the "hurry up and wait" process, especially at the hospital. That happened several times with DH.
That is a funny story about your cat-sitters cat, Claudia. What a character. Sorry you are still not feeling great.

Good Afternoon/Evening! I am back from the Caregivers lunch and gym. It was cold this morning, but now is in the upper 50's. Much better.
Not much to report. One of the ladies whose DH died a couple of months before mine is moving to "independent living" in Denver where one of her daughters and a DGD live. She is older (late 80's, I think) plus had a very bad fall last year. She thought about moving into a senior apartment here, but decided it was better to be near family.
Really hope Syd is doing better, Barbara. I remember when DH's DGD broke her pelvis planning soccer and was out of action for several weeks. I think she decided that soccer wasn't a great idea. She also had to give up ballet while that was going on. Difficult and frustrating times. Also hope you are feeling okay, and V is recovering with no problems.
Is your cough any better, Claudia? Wonder if you should check with a doctor to see if it is anything serious. Hope you, R, and your furbabies are doing okay, and you were able to get the cat into the cat carrier and the weather cooperated. Seems like many areas are having storms.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

It was fairly easy to put Maggie in the carrier. She doesn't hide at the sight of it like the others (though she may now). I picked her up, held the bond feet together and lowered her into the upended carrier.I
We didn't have a long wait at the vet. Maggie is 11 feisty pounds. She did not appreciate having her temperature taken and loudly objected to her shot
Tip on the other hand is 80 pounds and nothing bothered her.
We had ice overnight so had to careful going to the car. The roads weren't bad when we left at 10 but steps and sidewalk were another story. Once home I cleared them as much as I could. We have a storm coming through tonight so I picked up milk and mailed a get well card. Tomorrow R has an acupuncture appointment.
The cough is improving. R left for bowling and I got in my fleece pjs.
It is probably a better choice to be near family, Linda especially since she had a bad fall last year.
Barbara, I hope you and V are doing well and that Sydnie is doing better. She's so active in sure it's frustrating to have to wear a boot.

I had no time to post yesterday. V started having. Lot of pain and his catheter wasn't draining..so I took him to the Drs sfgice. When he got into the room, he passed out..quit breathing and they could not find a pulse. Cpr was started, emts called..HE WENT GONGHE ER ANDCWAS ADMITTED. I just got off the phone and he said everything was good except for the blood clots.
i am beyond exhausted, but will soldier on. He had always had issues with bladder surgery.
m took Syd to an optedist and her ankle is broken. She will be in a boot for a minimum of 2 weeks.
more layer.😫😫

So sorry about V and Syd, Barbara. I can't imagine how much stress you are having at the moment. While I know it is unlikely, please try to rest a little. Hopefully, V's blood clots will not be a problem, and he will be able to come home soon.
It is a shame about Syd breaking her ankle. Hope she does recover soon.
I'm praying for you and sending cyber hugs.
Linda

What a time you've had, Barbara. Thank heavens V was at the doctor's office when he passed out. I know R had major problems in the year after his bladder cancer was found but certainly nothing as bad as V's. We found R was allergic to the medication ( maybe anesthesia) the doctor used. Zinacef is the name I recall. No blood clots though.
I hope things have settled down a bit and you can get some rest. Poor Syd.
Nasty snowstorm overnight I got us shoveled out and we got to R's acupuncture appointment. Side roads were not good. I mailed Valentine cards to the grandsons.
Sad news. The FL state trooper who was recently shot. was the son of the former chief deputy at R's office.
