REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

Sorry Syd didn't get the part due to the other girl and her Mom.  I don't blame her for being upset.  Hope your flare goes away, and you are feeling much better before you have to return to LA.

Glad you got some of the chores done, Claudia.  Hope R's arm or leg is better.  I don't blame you for wishing he did not post so much.  Oh well.....

The OLLI Party was okay -- met a couple of interesting people and some of the people I had class with.  The food wasn't exciting at all, but I guess they don't always know what people will like.  Mostly sweets and not my favorite sweets.  Oh well......

It is chilly here (for Arizona), and it is off and on cloudy.  I was up late working on my weekly financial review, so I didn't feel like hopping out of bed this morning when the alarm went off.  Once I get my ironing done, I may take a brief nap. But, I'm not sure I will feel sleepy then.  I never used to take naps, but now a short nap can be very good for me.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

We had a sunny day here. The temperature was nearly 60°. I took advantage of the good weather to drive to the emergency vet and pick up TT's ashes. Weekdays they only have hours from 8 pm to 8 am. I was afraid next weekend's weather would be bad. Besides I wanted the ashes home.

Maggie Mae kitten is an escape artist. She has chased the big cats around upstairs. It's funny to see a cat 4 x her size running from her. The only one who doesn't is Tigger who is 16.

No more news from R about his spider bite and I wasn't about to ask.

Barbara, I hope you are feeling better today.

I don't often nap, Linda. The few times I have a dog barks or the phone rings. Too bad the food at the party was not what you hoped.

I took several things up to the attic after I captured the little feline escape artist and shut her in the spare room. I raked more leaves (the leaves are small and it's easier when they're damp) and the garbage is out. I started emptying the lower kitchen cabinets to prepare for the remodel. No set date yet for it. I also have a staging area on the sunporch for donations.

I hope you have a good evening.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

Good morning..I did not post yesterday because I was trying to recover from my flare. I do feel better today..so I think I am through the worst of it.

I have errands to run to run this morning..Syd and I fly to LA on Wednesday for her fittings.

m said the horrible neighbor kids throw snow at the end of our driveway which made it difficult for her to get out. These are the kids who tell adults “you cat tell me what to do”. If this happens while we are home I a, going to talk to the parents. Yikes

Maggie May sounds like Pepper..always getting into thing. Claudia.

Linda..I am doing gift cards this year..so much easier.

Hope me your day goes well.  It is rather chilly here. 🥶

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

Glad you are feeling a little better, Barbara.  It feels very cool to me, but I can't take the cold at all.  When others complain about the heat, I am usually okay.  Hope you get your errands done and your flare goes away for good.  What nasty neighbors you have in MN.  Guess they aren't MN nice.  Seems like the parents are not doing a very good job of raising nice people.

Hope things are okay there, Claudia.  Glad you were able to pick up TT's ashes, and I hope the escape artist kitten is under control today.

DD said that she is down to a 34" band size on her bra, but still very large cup size (G).  So, now we are the same band size, but at the extreme ends of the spectrum.  LOL  There are very few bras available in her size, and they are expensive.  Oh well.....  I asked, and she said that her back does not hurt, so I guess breast reduction is not needed.  But, yikes!

"Strong bones" class was fine, and I may go out to buy some carrots -- I really would like to make some vegetarian vegetable soup, and carrots are an important ingredient.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

I'm glad you are feeling better, Barbara.  It's a shame about the neighbor children.

Today is cooler and it has rained. R called and said he saw a deer but couldn't reach his rifle which was on a picnic table near the camp. I'm just as glad. He says his arm is still swollen. Hopefully he'll get it checked.

I scheduled Maggie's shots and spaying for the beginning of January. She is so tiny compared to the other cats.

Hope you got to make your soup, Linda. Stay warm. Bras can be so expensive.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Hope things are going okay there, Claudia.  Also hope R's arm gets better and Maggie does okay with her surgery and shots in January.  Wonder if she will calm down a bit after she is spayed?

Hope you are doing okay, Barbara, and your trip back to LA goes well.

It was quite chilly this morning, but is warmer now.  I did make my soup yesterday, and now have quite a lot of it.  Soup for one or two just doesn't work, so......  Today was the senior lunch program that went pretty well despite several people not caring for the hot lunch.  I wasn't a fan either, so I did not bring anything home (chicken thighs, rice, and bok choy).   The gym went okay, and I ran into the lady who is from Maryland, etc.  She said they will be going back to Maryland for Christmas (coupe of weeks, actually).

DD said DGD was not feeling well, and she took her to urgent care --- double ear infection plus sinus infection.  No wonder she didn't feel well.  Meanwhile, oldest DGS is planning to try for a different job -- perhaps just a different location.  He really likes his boss who is moving to a store in Maryland (near where I grew up).  Apparently, that store is considered a step up to "corporate" in New York.  DGS has no desire to go to New York, but he is spending quite a lot commuting to DC (time and money), plus he has to pay taxes in DC as well as in Maryland.  Of course, it is the height of the season, so he probably won't have time to look until next year, but......

My back has been bothering me, and I put one of those menthol patches on before I went to the gym -- good idea for sure.

Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. I am thinking of purchasing a new I-pad or I-pad mini next year (probably in the late spring or so.)  I think (not sure) that you have both the mini and regular, Barbara.  Which do you find more useful?  I like the size I have now, and I'm not sure if I can handle a smaller one, but maybe.  Do you have an I-pad, Claudia?

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

Good afternoon..another crazy day..I have laundry going and need to pack..I am going to collapse when I get to Mn.lol

Linda..I love my iPad mini..I wanted one that I could put in a purse..the lug puddle jumper mini is my travel bag and it is easy to fit it in along with my kindle. I would go to Apple and check the features of each...I never purchase those products except from an Apple store.

hope dgd feels better...sounds as if dgs is moving up the ladder. Take care of your back.

Claudia..hope the weather does not affect  I bet you are enjoying your quiet time.

i will try to post tomorrow..maybe from the airport.

  Sleep tight.😍😍

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

After all you've been doing you deserve a chance to collapse once you get home, Barbara.

R came home from camp. No chance at a deer. I'm just as glad. Latest idea is to get a 2nd vehicle this summer. Hopefully he'll forget. His right arm is still swollen (apparently it swelled and hurt after he fell) and I found out he just noticed he is losing sensation in his toes. He thought the hot water in the shower felt lukewarm to cold. Hopefully he'll check with the VA clinic tomorrow. I really don't think he can attend enough rendezvous or hunt enough to justify a used vehicle. I'm trying to keep my mouth shut in hopes he'll forget and get going on something else. Upstairs bathroom and the porches are next on my list and maybe windows.

Maggie  has been having a wonderful time pouncing on the big cats. I have a crackly tunnel toy the cats never bothered with...until now. Maggie chased 20 pound Fit z through it.

Griff still isn't eating much. He moves from dog bed to couch and back again. If he hears a noise he's alert and barking though.

Linda, it's too bad about this week's senior lunch. Hope next week will be better. Good luck to eldest dgs in his job search. No wonder your  dgd didn't feel well. No I don't have an I-Pad. Just my Kindle Fire and the seldom used desk top.

My right hip to my ankle is hurting but I've been doing more lifting than usual- small trunk upstairs, pots and pans out of kitchen cupboards, etc. I donated some pans that were duplicates or that I didn't think I'd use. I moved a larger chest to the living room.

Kittens usually calm down when they're a year to year and a half.. 7 more months to go.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

Hope your hip and ankle are better, Claudia.  Also hope R got some help, and Griff is eating more.  Sounds like you have been very busy.

I saw on FB that you are/were flying out to LA, Barbara.  I don't blame you for wanting to collapse when you make it back to MN.  There are no Apple stores near here or near DD's house.  So, I will probably not be able to go to an Apple store before deciding what, if anything, to purchase.  Perhaps when I am in DC, but it will not be easy.  I have been thinking about it, and I just don't think I can handle using a mini.  But, I am not in a rush to make my final decision since I don't travel until May.

The much older full size I pad that I use on trips isn't too heavy, and I have a keyboard with it since typing on a tablet without one pretty much drives me crazy.  I know, very old school.

I got my hair cut, and I think it is pretty good -- not too short.  But, I won't know for sure until I wash it.  The stylist does a great job of fluffing my hair out, but I am not able to replicate her work.  I have been going to her for quite a while, and I was happy to hear that she and her family are buying their first house.  It will be near her Mother and SIL's house.  And, her DD will not need to change schools (she is 15).  They are closing on the house on December 27th, so there is no point in trying to decorate, etc. this year.  Since the haircut was free for my birthday (I only had to pay for the stying), I gave her a larger than usual tip, and I think that made her happy.

Knock on wood, my back is better today.  I took an Aleve yesterday evening, and maybe it is still working.  If not, I'll take another one.

Hope you had a safe and uneventful trip, Barbara, and both of you have a nice evening.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS Week of December 2nd

R has a clinic appointment tomorrow morning. It's a good thing as his back is hurting especially when taking a deep breath. It's right where one of the scars for the drainage tube for his lung is.

Griff is eating very little. The only cat Maggie doesn't chase is Tigger who is 16.

I bought a replacement for the corded kitchen phone. The previous one was a replica of a pay phone. When we got it 20+ years ago , Whit was convinced for a brief time that she had to put money in it to make a call.

We've been watching a replay of the service at the National Cathedral. Btw, exactly 33 years ago when he was vice president George H. W. Bush came to our town with our local congressman who was a close friend. R was working back then and he came up and shook R's hand at the courthouse parking lot.I

Barbara, I hope you had a good flight. Take time to rest.

Linda, I hope you like your haircut after you wash it. I'm another who can never manage to replicate the stylist's work.
