Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

My iPad is running on slow mo this morning...the high speed internet has the hiccups..lol. I am going to Costco in a little while...need some basics . I am feeling better today. Sometimes it takes a week for the infusion tokickin. We have a busy dance weekend so it would be nice to be fully functional.

Sydnie worked with 13. Year old daughter of a dance friend of ms and this girl taught her more facial expressions than her solo teacher ever has. She also got her to relax her body a lot. Sydnie really likes Zaria and she told M that she will amp up syds dance for nationals. This girl is an elite dancer .

I get weird messages as I type this..think I will try to post

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

Part 2

we found ticks on pepper. M thought they were growths .   2 fell, off so she put them in a Baggie to show the vet on Friday. Yesterday Syd was looking at them and said they were moving ..eeww.  She had 2 more ob her body that I got off.,I hope she is now old enough to be treated because we do have a plethora of ticks.

Linda...glad you got your things repaired. As Claudia said the hospice dr should be able to care for dh, it is good when you can get out with people and have a good time.

Claudiz..is Paris a day trip??! I want to take Syd there some day. I can only imagine gryff and tt getting into it. Yikes. V 3 has 2 big dogs. A boxer and a lab but they get along.

i will check back later.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

Yes, Paris is a day trip. 15 hours- leaving London at 6AM - yikes.

I hope Pepper is old enough for the tick medicine. That is wonderful  that Sydnie learned so much from the other girl.

I did my mega grocery shopping today at Wegman's so am taking it easy now. The main reason Griff and TT are getting into it now is that TT is t trying to reassert himself. He blocks Griff's access to the back door after Griff has told us he has to go out - NOW!.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Glad you are feeling a little better Barbara and Syd is learning from the older girl.  Ticks -- yuck and double yuck.  I remember having issues with them as a child since we lived near the woods.  The dogs probably had some as well, but I guess I have blocked that from my memory.

I'm so jealous of your trip, Claudia.  Hope you have a great time.  Your dogs are something else.  Glad you got the grocery shopping done.

When I picked DH up at day services yesterday, they said he was anxious all day -- waiting for me to come from the time I dropped him off.  Things weren't much better after I picked him up.  When we got home, he had a bloody nose (he picked It) which bothered him a lot, and then his eyes were bothering him.  The pharmacy called to say that the could only deliver his medicine (including an anti-anxiety medicine) after 10:00 last night or today.  I had an appointment at the other nursing facility and had my oil changed this morning, and they attempted to deliver the medicine then.  Hopefully, they will come again this afternoon when I'm here.

DH had a pretty bad night, and ended up wetting through the sheets, mattress pad, etc.  I'm still trying to get that dry.  Before we got to bed tonight, I'll put on some of the pads supplied by hospice.  Not fun to have to strip the bed before 7:00 a.m.  I'm hoping he did better today.

The car needs alignment, so I have to take it back on Friday.  And, the mason came by to check for cracks -- all okay.  I asked for a bid on painting the house and wall -- I think it is a pretty good price, but I think I'll get another bid just in case.  My new neighbor came by in the middle of everything -- she seems nice, and she lives here 8 months a year.  That is a big improvement.

The hospice doctor has already done a letter for DH, but Arizona law requires two doctors to do letters.  That is why I need another one.

The second facility was nice enough, but probably more expensive than the other one.  I also don't like that they make family members wait to be escorted in the place and don't give you the code like the other home.  On the other hand, they were doing chair exercises, and the people looked more engaged than the other place.  And, they do offer emergency respite care -- hope I don't need it, but....

Hope both of you sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

What a night you had, Linda. I hope tonight is better and the medicine is delivered. They seem to be overdoing it by requiring 2 doctor statements. Possibly the hospice doctor has a colleague or maybe the doctor who no longer wants to see DH would be willing to write a letter.

The Paris day trip is 2 days after we arrive in London. That should give us time to figure how to travel to the station as that is not provided. Figuring the transport out is the one thing I worry about being used to rural living. The Stonehenge/ Bath day trip includes picking up and dropping off.

The Paris day trip is more money than I wanted to spend on a day trip but less expensive than a trip to Paris later. Plus I'm not sure how much more travelling we'll be able to do.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

Good morning...I have laundry going and will leave for knitting in a bit. It is raining and Pepper wanted no part of being outside. We did convince her, meow ever..lol.

Sydnie has to miss school tomorrow because she has to at the convention center by 12 and getting her ready is a chore. Make up and hair have to be perfect.

Linda, sorry you had a bad night with dh. Do you have a waterproof mattress pad...I think that would help is you don't.  I would want to be able to drop into a home at will to see what is going on. You have so much to think about. ((((Hugs)))$

Claudia, I have found the big cities in Europe easy to navigate using public transportation. We have used the Tube with no problem...the signage is easy and you can get info on line to print off before you go.

I hope your your days are going well. I will check back later.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

Good Morning!  Have fun at knitting, Barbara.  I remember how stubborn some dogs can be about going out in the snow or rain.  Sorry Syd has to miss school, but.....

We don't have a waterproof mattress pad, but I guess I should look at them again.  I had one in the past, but the noise drove me crazy enough that I decided it had to go.  Last night DH didn't have an accident, thank goodness.  And, he did sleep pretty well -- only woke me up once (I helped him go to the bathroom.)  They said he did a lot of sleeping during the day yesterday, so I was happy he could still sleep at night.

I'm still waiting for his medicine to be delivered.  This pharmacy is driving me crazy. They didn't deliver the night before last (would be too late), tried to deliver while I was out yesterday afternoon, and then couldn't deliver last night since the car broke.  I'll talk to the nurse about it today -- maybe they could deliver to the hospice office and I could pick it up there or something.  They don't seem to understand that they need to call before showing up since I don't spend 24/7 at home.

The reason you need to wait for someone to open the door at that facility is that one time a visitor mistakenly allowed a resident to go out when they did (didn't realize they were a resident), and the person got lost.  They assured me that I could come any time, but I understand sometimes there is a wait for someone to open the door.  Upon reflection, I think this place is a little "warmer" than the first one, but still.....  I also like it that the facility is right near the newish park maintained by the garden club.

My ex and I went on a tour of England, Wales, and Scotland back in 1997.  I really enjoyed the side trip to Bath, etc.  Have you been there before, Claudia?  I'm hoping to return to England and Scotland someday.  Not that interested in Wales.  And, DH did make it to Paris about three years ago.  That was a lifelong dream for me (going to France), and I'm very happy that I pushed for the trip.  I think DH was already feeling the effects of dementia at the time, but.....

Hope the dogs are behaving and R isn't in too much pain.

Lovely warm/hot day here, and I plan to take a walk as well as go to the caregivers meeting this afternoon.

Have a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Linda...the ones I have...on all my beds do not crinkle. I got them at Kohls and they were about 50 dollars.

Glad your night went well.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

I hope by now the medicine has arrived, Linda. Looking back, it was about the time of your Paris trip that DH's problem became more evident.

I'm not too interested in Wales either though in 04 we had a lovely dinner and music in an old farmhouse built around 1066. You could see the pegs that held the longbows in place. I wouldn't mind d seeing more of the west and south of England. On the 04trip we were in Bath briefly. There just wasn't as much time as I wished.

My lunch today was cancelled as two of the three coworkers were sick. One woman's husband was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. I did go to an estate sale looking for a pair of end tables I was interested in but they were already sold. It's probably just as well with the trip coming up and needing to replace the refrigerator soon.

I hope knitting went well, Barbara. Fingers crossed that Sydnie's hair and makeup are perfect first try.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS. Week of April17

Good Morning!  That must have been an interesting place to visit in Wales, Claudia.  My favorite OLLI "teacher" lived in Wales for six months, and I guess I'm just tired of hearing about it since he talks about it in every class (long story).  LOL  Sorry you didn't have lunch with your friends.  I completely understand about needing to limit "fun" purchases due to other priorities.  Hope the dogs are behaving and R is feeling okay.

I ordered one of the waterproof mattress pads from Amazon.  Hopefully, it won't crinkle like the old ones.  Time to give them another chance.  I guess you are busy with Syd and dance all weekend, Barbara.  Try not to overdo things.

The Caregivers meeting was good as usual.  The nurse came a little early yesterday, and the medicine was delivered around 5:30 p.m.  They brought a medicine I did not recognize or expect, and it turned out to be something to use at the end stages.  Hopefully, that will be a very long time.  DH spent a huge amount of time sleeping yesterday and still slept very well last night.  I'm concerned about him, but hopefully he will be okay.  I found another facility to visit -- nearby and supposedly nice (but expensive).

I need to go to the gym today and take the car in for alignment.  I want to take a walk as well.  Really can't think what to prepare for dinner at the moment, but hope that will happen before it is time to eat.

Hope both of you have a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda
