Good Morning! I need to get ready for my strong bones workshop this morning, so I decided to get us started, and start a new weekly thread.
It was surprisingly cool here yesterday -- high 80's, which is very rare for this time of the year. There were bad storms in parts of Tucson, but not here. Not to worry that we are taking a turn to the cold -- warmer weather for today, and above normal by the end of the week.
Yesterday went much better for me than the day before, and I'm not having any problems with my little grilling mishaps. Be careful for what you wish for as they say.
I'm excited about DH's shoe shopping/fitting today. Those elastic laces are much better than trying to tie them, but I think velcro closures will be even better.
Hope you are still feeling good, Barbara. What are Syd's plans for the week? Hope you don't need to do too much chauffeuring. Also hope dinner was nice last night. I ended up making eggplant parmesan (my version), and it turned out well.
How are things there, Claudia? Glad your San Diego trip is on, but sorry you won't be taking any tours. As you said, R will be hurting wherever he is.
It will be a pretty busy day for me, so I guess I better get moving.
Have a very nice day!
Hugs,
Linda

We had a heavy downpour a short time ago- just as I got home from Aldi's. I sat in the suv 15 minutes hoping it would slacken. No such luck.
Whit and family leave for home tomorrow. They spent much of their time in Buffalo. Hopefully we'll see them later today.
Linda, I hope the shoe fitting went well.
I registered R online for the reunion and mailed in his membership renewal for his C 1/5 group.
Barbara, such a wonderful feeling not to have the pain.

Whit and family left just after 10 this morning. They are meeting up with a friend near Pittsburgh then will be travelling till 10 PM or later to get to tonight's stop. Griff was just getting used to a small person to try to herd. Both boys are quite attached to their electronics- not quite sure what they are.
I hope Adam will keep Saturday's VA appt. He thinks there's really no need but the rest of us disagree.
R is sleeping again. He has a friend lined up to help him with the door Friday. Fingers crossed.
With the dogs and lack of carpet except for Adam's room there's really no sense in removing shoes here. LOL.

Good Afternoon! Glad you are happy with the house cleaning, Barbara and have good food for Syd. Also glad you are still feeling well and are having good weather. DH used to take off his shoes when he was in the house, but I never got into that habit. I do keep a shoe rack by the door, and usually wear different shoes inside than out if that makes any sense.
Sounds like a lot of driving for Whit and family, Claudia. Doesn't seem like they spent that much time visiting you, but hopefully it was a nice visit. Also hope Adam does go for his VA appointment and R improves.
The shoe shopping yesterday went great -- there were a few pairs of shoes on sale for $50, and one of the pairs were perfect for them. I had the technician measure and check it out (couldn't believe our luck), and he agreed. He can't do the Velcro (at least so far), but it is much easier for me.
Our neighbor/builder took us out to look at kitchen cabinets in a couple of houses, and gave us an estimate -- not cheap, but not too bad. They will be going away for a while, but hopefully we will pick out the cabinets (apparently they are all about the same price) when they get back. I'd love to have this done in August, but we will see.
It was nice on our walk this morning -- cool and not too sunny, but it is warming up again.
Work (senior lunch program) went well, but I have never seen so few people there. A bunch of the normal participants went on a trip. We had a very cute teenage volunteer (my DGD's age). She is an ambitious girl (wants to be a lawyer), and very nice. We found out that one of the volunteers we used to have has moved back to Greece -- what a place to be at this time.
DD's freezer, which was full of meat and fish, broke yesterday. And, the timing was very bad -- she needed to order pizza for dinner, and run out and buy food today. I think the repair guy is coming late today, and she is hopeful that it can be repaired. It is 15 years old or so, and this is the first time it has had any problems.
DH and I'll be going to the gym pretty soon (it is closed for cleaning at this point), and dinner is in the crockpot (chicken). So, I'm feeling pretty good about things.
Hope both of you have a nice evening and sleep well.
Hugs,
Linda

Sounds like shoe shopping was a success, Linda. No we didn't see much of Whitney and family. I was disappointed. The last time they were here R made some very prejudiced comments and thought they'd laugh. Like me they didn't think it was funny. I don't know what has come over him in that respect. I can't help but suspect previous tias.
Adam has decided to get out of the reserve saying he's burnt out. Not sure how that will work out.
I'm keeping this short as thunder and lightening just started. Griff was barking at the thunder.

Very sorry to hear about R's behavior and the short visit, Claudia. I does sound like it might be those TIAs. DH so rarely talks, but I was upset when he told his daughter that he didn't like her glasses, and she should get ones like I had. She didn't seem to mind, but....
Hope it works out with Adam leaving the Reserves. I'm hoping DGS stays in so he can get the educational benefits and hopefully good job either in the Army or outside based on his experience. But, I think burn out isn't that unusual.
