Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, WEEK OF JULY 19

Back from the grocery store...I am in shock every time I go. Our food prices are much higher than ax. Syd has a gymnastics camp today and then 2 classes at dance and auditions tonight. She had giggling spell this morning...it was pretty entertaining except that I was trying to get her hair in order at the same time.

Linda..v has used a sock helper since he had his hip replacement because he cannot bend over due to the hip.. Plus he wears compression stockings that are very hard to get on anyway. When he had his shoulder done I had to put his socks on and it really facilitated doing it. Glad your trainer helped. Good really can be helpful.

Claudia..oh the picture of r in his nightshirt dealing with the tree limb..
Both of you really have challenges in your lives. (((((Hugs))))

I did see the dr and I am having a severe flare...my glands were not swollen..it was the tissue around my jaw. Plus I have a uti...so am on prednisone again and an antibiotic.

Need to fix syd lunch.

Barbara, R seems to think with the hip replacement he'll have no trouble at all and will be fully mobile. I should have taken photos yesterday. It was quite a sight.

Sorry about that severe flare and uti.

We had some rain but the sun is back out and it's hot and muggy.

Linda, on Amazon it's called a sock aid standard and is about $12. There are various styles.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, WEEK OF JULY 19

Yikes...all kinds of icon stuff appeared at the top of the page. This typing is very small. I will enlarge it. The site drives me craaaaaazy!!

i am feeling much better today..pretty much back to normal. Glad I got stuff checked out.

sydnie is having great fun with her gerbils. And even her mommy plays with them   V pretends they do not exist.

Claudia, I think r may find out differently after his surgery. V was told not to cross his legs or bend from the waist while sitting. My gf has the same restrictions. I hope he does his therapy because v kind of quit and his function going up stairs or inclines is greatly impacted.

linda as I said, I think you will find that sock aid very helpful. I was thinking that an occupational therapist might be good for a consult re the issues getting dressed.

i will check back later.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, WEEK OF JULY 19

I'm glad you are feeling so much better, Barbara.

It's a sunny day here. I just took the 3rd and final load of wood and brush to the city dumpster. I left one log because Griffyn wanted it. He kept trying to pull it away.

R is sleeping. He had great plans to go out on the sun porch roof and spray the areas missed. Tomorrow we leave early for 2 VA appointments.

I second your idea of the occupational therapist. It might help your DH, Linda with the so called daily living activities.

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, WEEK OF JULY 19

Thanks very much for the suggestion.  I never thought of an occupational therapist, but maybe one would help.  Guess I'll need to look into a local therapist.  The sock aid I ordered should arrive tomorrow.  Keep those suggestions coming -- I can use all the help I can get.

Glad you are feeling so much better, Barbara.  It is a shame you have to go through these flares, etc., but it is good that you can get some help.  Glad even M is playing with the gerbils.

Happy you got rid of the wood, Claudia.  Hope the VA appointments go okay tomorrow.

We had a nice walk this morning, and my personal training session was great.  She reviewed my bone scan results with me, and showed me some new machines, some exercises I can do at home, etc.  It turns out that she does kinesiology taping as well as personal training, which is good to know if I am ever injured again.  I never heard of the process, but she said it is a big help for things like tennis elbow, etc.

The other gym approved under my insurance (if I pay $25 a month) is having an open house for former Curves members today.  I don't think that I will join since I have the fitness centers, but I will try the open house just to see.  Supposedly, some of our Curves coaches will be there.

DD is suffering from a migraine today -- lack of sleep.  She said she is having a very difficult time finding a psychiatrist for my SIL, and it is bothering her a lot.  He cannot continue on his drug therapy without having a psychiatrist of record.  Anyway, I suggested she call her old psychiatrist to find out how much they would charge without insurance.  Even if it is double, it would be worth it since my SIL really needs help.

Did either of you purchase any new Linea items?  He was certainly on at a strange time.  I am trying to be good since I really, really, don't need new clothes.  But, there is always the possibility of crumbling.

Hope both of you have a nice evening.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: REFORMED SHOPAHOLICS, WEEK OF JULY 19b

Linda, m has had a very difficult time when she has had to find a new psych. When hers returned from his retirement , he would not take insurance. I think a lot of them are going to that because of the new health care laws. I think she should call and consider paying privately. M gets money back from her has account...she us still paying but saves on taxes. If that does not work, maybe she could call their pcp for a referral.

you might want to talk to dhs neurologist about additional help. My moms neuro was very helpful in suggesting things. If you could find a geriatric specialist...or look into what is offered at the university medical practice. I know that would be a bit of a drive for you.

claudia..hope r got up today. Good luck at the va tomorrow.

sleep well
