Re: R.I.P. denim? Why yoga pants might be to blame...

Yes! This is what I meant by saying that I didn't like the look or the feeling (on me). Wearing exercise gear out and about (unless I'm making a quick stop somewhere like the grocery store after a run) makes me feel as though I didn't bother really getting dressed for the day or something. Smile

I hate wearing denim because the fabric is taut and tight.

When I wear pants I want to be comfortable and wearing

denim does not make me feel that way.

In my free time, I'm a jeans person most of the year. But when it's really hot, I wear shorts.

Denim isn't going anywhere. I am not worried about that. There is room for both denim & yoga pants and even all the rest. Thank goodness we are not stuck with one fabric & one style to wear.

I got sick of denim several years ago. I occasionally wear a pair of jeans on weekends, but I'm pretty off that fabric for a long time. ESPECIALLY denim shorts.

I don't know why the denim manufacturers don't take a page from the men's book. It wasn't until recently that women could find different lengths in ready to wear. Everything was sized in numerical sizing with a standard inseam. For me, everything was too long. When I worked retail, we often advised the customer to take multiple pairs of the same size into the dressing room because the variance of 1/4 inch or so could make a big difference in the fit of a garment. I think I read somewhere (a long time ago) that the average woman has to try on 50+ pairs of jeans to get one pair that fits. No wonder people get so upset when their line/style is discontinued!

I have been buying "petites" for at least 50 years................

Yoga pants should be worn for yoga -- they are not meant to be street clothes.
