Question about Coated Denim

I am considering purchasing some coated denim skinny jeans for Fall. Has anyone tried coated denim and if so what were your experiences? I don't want them to look too shiny. I have never seen any in person, only on-line because none of the stores in my small community sell them. I do most of my shopping on-line. Thanks!
