Just thinking, the Q's pricing has gone up and up and just recently they are clearing out the inventory and offering percentage off items....who does the same? HSN does exactly that, the prices are crazy high, DG top is now around $70 but wait, clearance, goes down to around $39 and sometimes below...
Wonder if that's the new strategy?
If you want it right away, you'll have to pay for it or just wait until the season is almost over and get it reduced probably at the price it should be in the beginning.

I think they are testing the waters trying new things. I think more changes are coming.

Isn't this pretty much the strategy everywhere?

There is definitely a change. But think aboout how much shopping has changed with the internet. For many years, in order to see/buy something from QVC, you had to watch live TV. You could not comparison shop. There were no customer ratings. The marketing focused around buy ot now, only 100 remaining! One time only deals were good for only one show.
Discounting and comparison shopping is the way we shop now. QVC seems to be turning to more in-house brands, probably because the mark-up is better. They have raised all the prices and shipping prices so they can discount and get rid of inventory. Remember, if they can still make money selling at a 50% discount, the retail price is inflated to make the sale price look like a deal.
For name brands, we can go on line and see what an item is selling for on multiple sites. Shoes now have a $10-12 shipping fee on Q. Many sites offer the same shoes for less with free shipping both ways, no tax. Many sites offer free shipping on beauty products. They need to do more to keep up.

What I wish is that if you lower the price, keep it that price and then go down from there. There are items that are on clearance that have been CHEAPER during special promos.
Also, something on clearance for a YEAR, needs to be marked down AGAIN and AGAIN if you TRULY are trying to clearance it out.
I have never seen ANY business following such a bizarre and stupid pricing game as QVC.
