Re: Ponchos, are they comfortable and do I need this......

I got from your thread that you were looking more for an outdoor poncho.  Many ruana's and wraps are just more like very loose tops.  I would wear the poncho you pictured in a heartbeat.  I have always owned a poncho for outdoors and have worn them for years.

They look great with jeans and a nice pair of boots!

The most recent one I bought for warmth (live in New England) was an Aran sweater poncho and it's glorious!!   As far as carrying a bag, I can still use my crossbody with it but depending what I have underneath it will determine if I can wear it outside or under.......you just go with what's comfortable for you.  I do love them and yes @GingerHead you need it, LOL!

@GingerHead

I think you and I might have similar builds (thin and tallish).

Ponchos, wraps, and ruanas look great, but I don't have the patience to deal with all the falling off, wrapping, rewrapping, and shoulder bag nonsense. I am not one for sitting still, though, and I talk with my hands/arms, which could be why I can't keep a wrap/poncho looking neat.

On the plus side, that plaid poncho is cute. The colors are lovely.

Re: Ponchos, are they comfortable and do I need this......

I was thinking about ponchos yesterday!   A few of my girlfriends wear them since we mostly are walking from our homes to the cars to a restaurant or something.  The one in the picture looks really nice, I would prefer a solid color to wear over a suit and or regular clothes.

Anyway, thanks again for responding to my post and helping me decide! Haha.

I'm just trying to be more selective nowadays because I don't want to have clothes that I don't completely love (ain't nobody got time or space for that)!

It's just hard to buy things online that you can't try on and feel and I find I make more and more returns because of it and I'm getting sick of the time and cost of returns....

Anyway, I'm still not sure because I do think it would look decent on me (I think) I am slim and tallish (5'5) but I do like my freedom and am active so not sure.

Ohhhhh Whoa is me!!! The decisions we must make in life....I tell ya it could drive a girl to drink! haha

Why are there so many things to like and want!Woman LOL

Re: Ponchos, are they comfortable and do I need this......

I had ponchos back in the day.  I'm 64 and they were fashionable when I was in college.  I had brown crocheted one in shades of browns that I wore until it fell apart.  Years later, I had ruanas and which I sort of collected.  I always found those things very comfortable and easy.  Also dramatic if you know how to style them.  I think a shoulder bag might work with the one you showed because it has sleeves.  It's more of a cross between a jacket and a poncho.  I like it a lot.  Reminds me of A655191 which I purchased in brown.

dont like wearing heavy bulky coats anymore, plus I naturally run "hot."

Ditto!

Can't stand wearing a jacket or coat - They make me feel as if I'm suffocating and waaaay too hot. Smiley Embarassed

I'm "extra-short" and ponchos have too much volume of fabric for me.  I prefer a non-athletic sweatshirt (doesn't look too "collegiate")

@Desertdi I have about six of these!  Best thing I ever bought!!! Lands End?  Old Navy?  Can't remember but I'm about to get them out for cooler weather.  They are warm, not hot, but just right for our winters!
