I hate pockets in pants - they just accentuate the hips!! I do like pockets in jackets, cardigans and blazers though.....

Another pocket lover here, I do not carry my purse around the house, I do like pockets in my pants for my phone and a hankie. The OP did not ask for pockets in all pants, she said some pants. There are a few pants in my closets without pockets and I rarely wear them. My other use for pockets is my car keys. When I am doing errands I like to drop the keys into a pocket, I don't like digging in my purse for the keys. I see many women doing that in parking lots.

I too carry my phone in my purse. I don't want that big lump in a pocket.
