Re: Plus Size HOST... Constantly PUTTING HERSELF DOWN

It is amazing that anybody can say whatever they want about Antonella but if it is Shawn - it's unkind and rude.

Re: Plus Size HOST... Constantly PUTTING HERSELF DOWN

I watched some of the show this morning and thought Antonella looked great in the TSV!

I did hear some of her comments but I didn't take it as "putting herself down". She and IM were just having a conversation about not being able to just walk into a store and buying stuff right off the rack.....in particular, designer clothing. In case you've never noticed, they were only speaking the truth! Most designer clothing stops at size 12. Even IM said HE has the same problem. Why are you not commenting about him putting himself down?

I don't recall Antonella ever saying what size she wears when she has on QVC clothes. But she did mention in passing this morning "we plus size gals" so I think she's about a 1X. I honestly don't blame her for making some of the statements she makes on air about her size. I don't think she's uncomfortable with herself at all. I think it's a preemptive strike against the vicous comments that women make about other women...especially someone who is not a size 2! Women are brutual!!

How tall is Antonella?  She looks about 5 Ft 2 inches to me.

There is no way I'm going to name names.  I'd be eaten alive, here with this group.

That said, I can think of exactly three that are most definitely plus size.  Yes, they say they wear a size large, but really should be going up a size to have a better fit.  Just because they say it, doesn't make it true.   Also, with QVC's vanity sizing, said hosts would be wearing a larger size in the real world.  Do you seriously not know whom I speak of?  There's no way these hosts are a size large.  No way, no how.

Not that Jane is plus size, but this is the perfect example of QVC sizing.  She stated (today) that she wears a size 6.  Jane is most definitely is not a size 6.

Why do the hosts/vendors think it is important to 'cover everything up.' On most shows you hear how this top will cover your bottom or your middle. It's not said as a way to just describe the item, as in length. It's said in a way that we should hide or camouflage parts of our body.

How about just describing the item.

@Day1128I think they're speaking from personal experience in fitting them selves as well as having seen people that were way too exposed as we all have.

I have heard Antonella put herself down as well.  She was recently on QPlus selling QF and talking about how she isn't a skinny minny  and made a few other comments.  I also remember when the SkinnyTees came out in a plus size she said that she was never able to wear the others and was very happy they now offered them in plus size.

I detest when people put themselves down.  In my experience, people either do it because they are looking for compliments (like an obviously thin person will speak about being fat) or they have very low self-esteem.  I have a relative who does this all the time and it drives me nuts.  It makes people uncomfortable.

I wish people weren't so hung up on bodies.  I see it all the time on this board where posters make comments about hosts/vendors figures.

@Lipstickdiva  I'm failing to see how that's a put down.  it could be a great selling point that something looks great on a non-skinny minny too.

Re: Plus Size HOST... Constantly PUTTING HERSELF DOWN

Love Antonella!  I think ladies say statements like that out of frustration throught a lifetime because they have fit challenges, but we all do.  They may have noticed a relatives shape that they didn't like then slowly grew into.  We also inherit eating habits, and many times they are local or regional, or we just like certain things together, and we choose to allow ourselves that treat.

Starches are a problem for many people after they quit growing because they begin to metabolise into sugar in the mouth.  That's why babies love mashed potatoes.

Maybe you never liked your shoe size or your shorter neck, or larger wrist, whatever.  We all have challenges and look at someone who looks better and think, "I'd love to be there.".  We'd find an issue there too.

People do things that undermine good health and many openly make poor choices to the point they create diabeties with the doctors telling them that they are on that road.

We get messages all our lives which say "Be the best you can be.".  Which is all you can do.  It's a choice with a commitment to lifestyle in many cases and a fight with heredity.

I am glad the OP has the peace that comes from self acceptance.  It isn't a road many people allow themselves to be on, but I hope one day they can climb that mountain.

Re: Plus Size HOST... Constantly PUTTING HERSELF DOWN

my personal opinion on this and i do like the hosts in question, is that they should keep their personal opinions about themselves and their bodies out of the presentations.

the exception would be the host who says i'm wearing size 14 and gives the viewer an idea of what to order based on what she says.  i've read where viewers find this extremely helpful.

how a host likes or dislikes their body is really not meant to be our business and i'd rather not hear about it
