Love Antonella! I think ladies say statements like that out of frustration throught a lifetime because they have fit challenges, but we all do. They may have noticed a relatives shape that they didn't like then slowly grew into. We also inherit eating habits, and many times they are local or regional, or we just like certain things together, and we choose to allow ourselves that treat.
Starches are a problem for many people after they quit growing because they begin to metabolise into sugar in the mouth. That's why babies love mashed potatoes.
Maybe you never liked your shoe size or your shorter neck, or larger wrist, whatever. We all have challenges and look at someone who looks better and think, "I'd love to be there.". We'd find an issue there too.
People do things that undermine good health and many openly make poor choices to the point they create diabeties with the doctors telling them that they are on that road.
We get messages all our lives which say "Be the best you can be.". Which is all you can do. It's a choice with a commitment to lifestyle in many cases and a fight with heredity.
I am glad the OP has the peace that comes from self acceptance. It isn't a road many people allow themselves to be on, but I hope one day they can climb that mountain.
