Re: Paris Haute Couture Week: Clothes for the 1%, thrills for everyone else

Haute Couture runway shows are about visions and concepts.  The clothes on those runways are not intended to be worn the way the models are styled.  They are also intentionally over the top to entertain get the designers a spread in fashion magazines.  Sure. Celebrities might wear these editorial looks but they do it for publicity and because they get free clothes from designers for being photographed in their designs.

Haute culture is not supposed to be something you would see worn by someone you know.

Its high fashion. Not meant for the average person on the street. Why do you think Kings and Queens and Princesses attend these shows?

@JamandBread Which queens and princesses are you referring to? I can't picture any Royal dressing like that.

Princess Charlene, Caroline of Monaco and other European royalty regularly attend Paris Fashion Week. The couture you see on the runway is over the top, but is styled and tailored to the person who buys the item.

I've always assumed that royalty went to fashion shows not to shop but to see and be seen by other vacant-brained celebrities.

There are just as many vacant brained "real" people as there are vacant brained celebrities.

Not hard to understand how peeps can't make the connection between fashion shows and actually buying the designer's creations. I thought it was common sense. But not much of that these days.

Exactly. This is how the design houses stay in business.

I HIGHLY DOUBT that queens and princesses would wear these LAUGHABLE, RIDICULOUS outfits.

Its obvious you have no clue how any of this works.

You can highly doubt all you want, but royalty most certainly does  buy from these designers, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars each season.

LOL. WILL DO!!!

@JamandBread  The point I was trying to make is that none of the above royals would wear haute couture as shown in the original post.

Haute Couture is another form of fine Art.  If you go to a museum to look at paintings each person will get something different from what they observe in it.  High Fashion is a form of wearable "Fine Art."  Again, it's not the same thing as clothing.  This forum is the "Fashion Forum" so I think anything and everything fashion related belongs right here.

You didn't say that though so none of us could possibly know what you meant.  Thanks for clarifying @LuvSoCal .
