Re: Paging The Owl: For this New Englander, Storm of the Century was Not!

Our final looks like it will come in awfully close to 30 inches. Still not a LOT of traffic on the roads but they are largely cleared and hubby is off to work. It was "light" stuff so not too bad for shoveling touch ups after snow blowing. But that's helped by how cold it remains - about 13 degrees at 10:15 am. I am really, really grateful that we did not experience a power outage but I have yet to hear how many of those may have occurred in other areas of the state. And right now the forecast is indicating another 5 inches snow over the coming weekend. As always, we'll see what actually happens.

I heard parts of the Cape Cod area were w/o power.

Re: Paging The Owl: For this New Englander, Storm of the Century was Not!

I think we ultimately got about two feet of snow yesterday here on the Maine coast but it's hard to tell because the howling wind was so strong and blew it into huge drifts.

My corgi, Rosie, ran outside to do her business first thing in the morning and promptly disappeared in a snowdrift. She popped straight out like a bunny rabbit and ran straight back to the house as fast as her short little legs would carry her. She acted all insulted that I hadn't cleared off the whole yard for her benefit.

Lived in Wayland Ma for 30 years. Happy I'm not there now. Living in SE North Carolina coast and all we have are hurricanes.

I rather have the weather we have then the hurricanes.

Matty.......I agree. I would rather have the weather we have then hurricanes.

Hi Sheesh... sounds like you are located very close to me. I live in the town of the Big E... Probably about a foot of snow here. Will take it over the 2-3 ft. that was forecast. Nice to meet you neighbor!

Junebug54 ~ We love the big E Smiley Happy and try to make it down about every 3 years for it. This year, I THINK, might be our year. While we enjoy taking in a lot of the local and regional fair's I'm always surprised how many people in northern NE don't even know what the Big E is Smiley Happy

The Owl hello and nice to meet you. That's about how often we go too!! We think this may be our year to go again. Maybe I will see you there. Luckily for us we go early on a weekday morning to avoid the weekend traffic and crowds.

Agreed number one queen! It met our "expectations" too in the end up here in south eastern NH. And good to meet you too Junebug54. When we go down to the Big E, we usually stay a night or two in a hotel.

Enjoy your snow - and it IS gorgeous - and stay warm when the temps plummet tonight!
