The pants in post #11 are workout tights,

even though Champion codes them as 'yoga' pants.

Most yoga wear will be very tight fitting from the knee/down.

My cycling tights are tight fitting from the knee down.

A lot of the Under Armour tights, which are really popular,

are tight from the knee down.  But the 'athletic leisurewear'

worn to lunch w/ the girls will be workout tights,

which are loose around the ankle.

The term 'yoga pant' is like my generation of 'tennis shoes'.

Any athletic sneaker was called tennis shoes,

but not a single game of tennis was played.

@sidsmom, I own them.  They are not workout tights in the least.  They come in a bootcut style or straight leg.  The bootcut is a relaxed fit and the straight leg are more of fitted style but in the correct size, like I wear, they are not a tight pant.   These are more like a pair of knit pants than workout wear.

Wasn't really looking for praise it was more of a challenge; do you still think in this day and age that women are having difficulty finding pants that fit properly?

I may be special😘 but I'm pretty sure that I'm not unique

As a pear shape, I have a terrible time finding pants that fit correctly if they have a zipper front and set in waistband.  Almost all dress pants have to be taken in at the waist for me.

It's also a challenge finding jeans that don'g gap in the waist.  A small amount of spandex doesn't change that fact for me.

And I have straight hips, so I usually have to taper down the sides of each hip since most pants are cut to fit a woman who has wider hips. I'm thankful I can sew. :-)

There are so many different body shapes that -- even in this day and age --- it can be a real chore for some women to find pants that fit.

We better watch out for the O/T Police. We're veering way off topic. :-)

@sidsmom  Sorry but the item shown in post #11 are PANTS not tights !!!!

ITA. Tights to me are tight from waist to ankle. Yoga pants -- the kind I see in yoga class -- are flared at the ankle.

Re: Overheard in the Consignment Shop

Funny....didn't realize the term 'pants' vs 'tights'

would yield several responses!

I grew up running track.

We had those ugly thick sweatpants, warmup pants,

track pants, tear-away pants.

We ran our events in running tights.

Dancers generally warmup w/ pants & perform in tights.

Today, most runners, cyclists, sportsy-sports person

has their version of a pant vs tight.

The common denominator is usually the waistband &

a slim, somewhat looser, profile.

Drawstring, elastic...something loose enough to pull over another

garment...and have something on underneath.

#11 are smooth & tight-fitting to the waist w/ a pull-on waistband.

I know.  I own them. Not much on underneath.

Only thing between me & the free world is a thin piece of fabric.

Tight & 'workout tights', indeed.

@sidsmom

Pants and tights are two completely different garments.   I didn't realize that some women really don't know the difference.

@Tinkrbl44

You're right...women really don't know the difference,

but athletes definitely know the difference...and there is a difference.

And my knowledge was procured circa mid-70's

out on a cinder track running w/ spikes..doing intervals

on a brisk, windy mid-western spring afternoon.

You only stripped to racing tights when you had to.

Brrrrr.

The consignment shop I bring things to won't take any clothing items sold on QVC.  THey will take Dooney & Bourke bags and name brand shoes like Clark's but no SG, D&C, IM, Halston, Linea, QF etc.

@KathyPet,They won't take my Q clothing either unless it has a person's name.  Most consignment stores have elevated to brands like Talbots, Chicos, (those only because they're popular), Anthropologie, artisan shops, and brands from Nordstroms.

Re: Overheard in the Consignment Shop

I wear pants that might qualify as yoga pants.  I like them and they look good.  The really athletic looking ones i use for exercise or at home only.

Re: Overheard in the Consignment Shop

if one consignment won't take your clothing, i would look around for someone who will.

here's my take on yoga pants.  i wear them and sneakers only to the gym.  several years ago i got rid of all sweatpants and sweatshirts.  i felt very lazy and hungry when i wore them.  not good for me.

yoga pants are not worn too much here where i live.  even so, i don't stand in judgement of anyone and what they wear.

Re: Overheard in the Consignment Shop

It's been a long time since I've worn jeans...In fall/winter, I live in black leggings.

I also have several pairs of black workout capris that I wear in spring/summer.
