Over 50 fashion

[ Edited ]

My Google feed today had this French lady who does fashion videos called French Chic. The one i watched was on mistakes that older women make with summer dresses. She showed mistakes then better more flattering choices. The fashion "donts" were shapeless dresses with too much volume, styles that tried too hard to be young( ruffles)and tiers,  dresses that  were too short, huge prints. And tie dye  hmmm Basically most of Qvcs offerings in my humble opinion. A few of which are in my closet😆

Shes big on embracing your womanly figure even if you think you have too many flaws. She likes adding belts to accomplish this, more fitted bodices, and wearing solid colors. She likes some prints but not the giant kind that you find in Women with Control and maybe some  SG dresses. I'm just using those as examples so while I'm down with the flu, I think I'll take a serious closet inventory.

I don't believe in over 50 fashions.  I know what generally works for my figure and I'm still wearing clothing from before I turned 50.  As much as I love a nice belt, they look terrible on me in most cases.  And I love a large print, but I also often go monochromatic.

@smoochy   Maybe in the 2 decades since I was in Paris the women are now mostly all dressed well to my eye.  Then, I had fingers left on which to count the woman we saw whose look was one we hoped to copy here.

And now, as someone already to be too old to be part of the boomer generation, I don't spend my money to please people who don't have the slightest idea why I make the choices I do whether those choices sound similar to that "expert" advice or not at all.

That woman from French Chic has a ton of YT videos. Personally, I would never take her advice. Her hairstyle is very matronly, and the way she dresses is dated and makes her look much older than she actually is.

Totally agree with @Icegoddess .  I have developed a personal style that's served me very well for lots of years.

I'm glad we don't have to follow a "Over 00" dressing code.

Not many designers for the 85+ crowd!  Can't imagine what one would have me wearing!
