Wilma:  Could it be your particular asthma medication that is causing your problem?

I believe this has been fully discussed here, but have your doctors  suggested (lately) anything else regarding medications?

The best of luck and health to you, and everyone here.

@ROMARY

My voice issues may be caused by the change in my asthma meds back in March. I was worried when my doctor retired that a new doctor might try to change things. I mentioned my voice issues to my new doctor, but he doesn't think the med changes are the cause. But, that's the only thing different. Just don't know for sure.

I asked him if I could switch to some other asthma medicine, but he wants me to stay on the new med. I'm stuck unless the university specialist can convince him otherwise, or I demand a change in meds. I actually had this issue several years ago with another asthma medicine. I told my previous doctor I couldn't be on that med because it ruined my voice. He eventually found 2 meds that controlled my asthma and didn't cause hoarseness. And, yes, I told my new doctor about this, but he just won't budge on this issue.

That's interesting that a chiropractor was the answer to your laryngitis. I've never been to one. I will keep that in mind.

Sometimes I get bronchitis in the winter and subsequent laryngitis for a few weeks. My asthma has also caused vocal issues in the past. The fact that doctors have been unable to find anything physically wrong this time to explain it is odd. I still wonder if it's really bad seasonal allergies.

@wilma

Mine is hereditary.  In my parental grandmother's side, there is a ton of asthma and some of my 1st cousins have died as young as 30s and 40s with asthma.  I have very bad asthma that has become COPD since my wreck where the steering wheel broke, my air bag did not deploy and I was hit in the chest with the steering wheel, a month later I got covid and was in ICU for 10 days and now my pulmonologist says it has become COPD.

@Nonametoday

I'm sorry to hear about your asthma and COPD struggles. Then, a car accident and COVID. That's a lot to deal with. My asthma is well controlled right now, thank goodness. I sound horrible, but I feel fine otherwise.

Have a Good Day!

@wilma

Wilma, that should have been paternal and not parental.  Don't know if I did that or Autocorrect did it.  Sorry.

I had my vocal evaluation with the local university. They recorded my voice as I attempted to perform various speaking and singing challenges. A computer program analyzed my data.

They also repeated the scope exam, and unlike the ENT,  they found irritation on and around my vocal cords. They showed me photos and parts of the video. No wonder I'm hoarse and can't sing. Not a pleasant sight. They think the irritation is caused by allergies and other meds. They also see signs of aging vocal cords which is normal for a singer in her 60s. I start therapy and treatment next week. I hope it helps. Will keep you posted.

Enjoy the weekend!

Oh, Wilma, I hope the therapy and changes work for you.

Sunday's Outfit:  Mario Serrani shirt, Fornia skirt, and Via Neroll heels.  Another pair of shoes I need to find a replacement for.  I looked down at Church and noticed a small flap of the faux snake skin sticking out.  Maybe a little glue will fix it?  I love thos shoes.

I tried tucking the shirt in and it just looked weird.  i think it's just that I'm rather short waisted.  Even though the belt is at my waist, the fabric from the shirt draws the eye down and it looks fine.

@Icegoddess

You look great! Very flattering outfit!

It's never fun to lose a pair of shoes you love. I have a favorite pair of wedge sandals that are starting to fall apart. Bummer. I hope you can fix your shoes and get some more wear out of them.

Thank you for the well wishes. I hope the therapy helps me get back my singing voice too. This is the longest I've gone without singing due to health issues.

Hope You Have a Great Day!

Re: Outfit of the day, if you dare!

Sunday's Outfit:  Calvin Klein top with black Lee Trousers and Black/White graphic print peep toe pumps. I wore the same outfit earlier in the week to my former Choir Director's Celebration of Life.

After 4 years off the ice, I've started skating again.  It just so happened that the local rink started an all-adult freestyle session around Noon on Saturdays.  That works for my schedule.  I'm so over early morning skating sessions.  It's a lot like starting over again.  My first session I didn't do anything but just skate around.  I'm now up to a few rudimenatary jumps and my favorite, the spins.  If nothing else, it's an added workout session.  I am pretty wiped after I get off the ice.

@wilma , we're singing The Majesty & Glory of Your Name tomorrow.  It's a beautiful piece.  We sang it many times when I was singing under my former Choir Director who died recently.  If you're not familiar with it, I'm sure you can find it on Youtube.

@Icegoddess

Very nice outfit! Makes you look long and lean.

Getting back to skating sounds like it will be fun for you, and I agree it's a great workout. You're very talented to be able to jump and spin. I can barely stand on ice skates.

I will check out that song. Sometimes I don't recognize a title, but the melody is familiar. Lots of music stored in my brain. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your former director.

My vocal therapy exercises and treatments are helping, but my voice tires very easily and then gets raspy again. Still hoping to return to choir someday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Re: Outfit of the day, if you dare!

Had another appointment for a nerve block so I wore my going in for that uniform:  I also noticed that my top is getting too big.  Goal is to wear something easy to position for injections in my lower back.  Since I cut off my feet in the pic, I added one of the shoes:  from Sundance.  MarlaWynne pants with a top from Costco. IMG_3638.jpgIMG_3642.jpg
