Re: Oh! No! Not Crop Pants....Not Again!

p.s.  I forgot to mention that I like a slimmer style crop pant.

Not the type that widens at the bottom.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Oh! No! Not Crop Pants....Not Again!

I won't be wearing them because I look like I outgrew my pants and my parents couldn't afford to get me new ones that were long enough.

Besides QVC or any other retailer isn't going to convince me to wear them.

Bermudas fall to the top of the knee.

Pedal pushers fall right below the knee.

Capris fall mid-calf.

Crop, high water, floods, somewhere between mid-calf and the ankle.

High-water pants are slacks with a length that sits above the ankle. They are also called "flood pants" or "flooders." The name comes from being so high that the hem is protected from getting wet even in flood waters.

The term "high-water pants" first came into use in the 1850s. They are often seen on children who have grown so much that their pants are too short.  Not to be confused with capris that are mid-calf.  High-water pants were considered a fashion faux pas.

@KingstonsMom  Yes!  That’s what my grandma called pants too short.

They make my chubby legs look like tree trunks.

I dislike crop pants, ankle pants, bermuda shorts and capris, for myself, lol.
Now what you wear, I absolutely do not care.
The only pants that flare out, even a little bit at the hem, that i will wear, are boot-cut jeans. Even then I prefer the demi boot-cut. Again, wear whatever suits you and makes you happy. And I don't think anyone said those styles shouldn't be offered.

like @Carmie , i wear them all.  i have a few crops but mostly capris and pedal pushers ... and on a really hot day (which isn't hard to come by since i am in florida) for a day at a beach or park, i will wear bermudas.

When you live in a hot state and city, you need crop pants. Love them and am sure they will be around for a long time.

Not a fan.  All my pants are full length.

Re: Oh! No! Not Crop Pants....Not Again!

What seems to draw so much "fire", is when this length (whether being a cropped pant, or buying petite because the wearer doesn't want to have them hemmed) is worn with white socks and a slip on shoe, like a loafer in cooler months.  The botton of the hem hits against or above the ankle when they walk.  I've seen this quite a bit since I've been in retail.

That length was already disliked before it came to the runways.

Always found them unattractive, but they have been popular for a long time. I agree they are cooler than long pants in summer.
