Today is a sad day for us here. DH took our dog Noodle to the vet to be euthanized today. She would have been 17 in March. She blew one ACL ligament in a hind leg about two years ago, then blew the second one about six months ago. Because of her arthritis she was not a candidate for surgical repair, but she had done quite well with a combination of various homeopathic and herbal preparations as well as acupuncture. But she has been noticibly failing the last six months or so. After her last acupuncture appointment, the vet said she didn't know how much longer the acupuncture would help her. She was having increasing difficulty getting up and getting around then finally was not able to walk or stand at all. And she lost bladder and bowel control and exhibiting many symptoms of dog senility syndrome. It was time, but never easy to do. She was very much attached to DH and he is feeling terrible today. We have been through this with many animals over many years, but it never seems to get easier, as they are all individuals. I am grateful that we had her as a wonderful companion all the time that we did. She also had a good and long life. But of course we feel the loss.
