O/T Horrible New Computer Virus

My husband, who has a master's in Physics, owns an electronic maintenance business. He plans the computers of multiple businesses setting up or adding on including doctors and dentists. He also teaches and maintains.

There is a new virus that comes as an attachment . It attaches to emails forwarded to you and will wipe your drive clean of pictures and all documents. It also will attach to invoices that are sent to you for downloading. It attaches to items as they come to you! Lost documents cannot be restored. Nothing can be restored. If you have a friend that sends you lots forwards, it can easily attach to that. Of course, don't open emails where you don't know the sender.

This comes from somewhere in Europe and they ask for an unuaual currency. They're asking for several thousand dollars, then about two days later it goes up much higher if you don't pay.

Norton antivirus isn't enough. If you have constantly updated your security then you should be ok. This is not the kind of thing the Geek Squad can fix.

Hopefully, we can all remain safe.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

If you mean the "ransomware" it's not new.

It's been around a couple of years. Keeps morphing.

All over the net, do a search, plenty of hits. But it is nasty. {#emotions_dlg.mad}

Thanks for the warning. I never open attachments.
