Re: O/T Do you have a recommendation for a hotel in Miami?

It's been years since we've been to Miami but we've stayed at the Fontainebleau a few times. My husband was in the hotel business and this one had a reciprocation agreement. Back then it was very nice.

Stayed at the Fountainbleu last summer and loved it. Great restaurants, pools and poolside service and easy public transportation to South Beach.

Re: O/T Do you have a recommendation for a hotel in Miami?

There are a few nice hotels that though they may not be boutique type of places (Ritz Carlton) they are directly on the beach and are within an easy walk to all of the hot spots in south beach. There is a nice outdoor shopping area with lots of outdoor cafes called Lincoln Rd mall near the hotels and a block from the beach. It reminds me a bit of some European cafes only Miami style.

I agree with another poster about checking TripAdvisor.com. You can get a great feel of what you are looking for plus people will often add their own photos which gives you a more realistic impression of what a place looks like vs. some glossy marketing images.
