I don't care what they choose to call the stuff, it's plastic to me.

I think there is a new market for it. Not for me, but I wouldn't wear a leather jacket either.  There has been an increase in vegans who do not wear animal skin of any kind.  Unless I go outside at 4 in the morning, there is no need for a leather jacket where I live.  I don't even own a coat!.

The term leather-effect cracks me up.  Pleather that is what ternm they should use .  LOL!

Why change the name though? Maybe "faux leather" sounds cheap and "leather - effect" sounds expensive but I don't think so. I have a faux leather office chair that is starting to split and show wear and tear on the fabric but I do have a few nice faux leather moto style jackets which are nice to wear in spring and fall. It's much to hot to wear them at this time of year though and unless they are marked down a whole lot, I wouldn't even want to look at them in the stores, let alone online!
