No longer "faux"; now it's "leather-effect"

Saw faux leather re-phrased as "leather-effect" at Zara and then at Saks, too.

HUH?

Cute jacket, though.

Some are really cute, I own one....) but they are VINYL/PLASTIC.  Granted they've made improvements since the 70's sweat-plastic..... but they are faux leather no matter what they call it..... lol  Woman LOL

I actually prefer leather effect, because if one translates faux we get
"fake"  or artificial and that is not what a designer really whats to present.

Always bothered me that combo of french/english why not faux cuir

Hmm, nice to know I'm on trend.  I'm currently wearing a pair of leather effect flats.

It's all in the semantics and perception. If fancy verbiage will sell more product at higher prices, retailers will continue to do it. Would you pay high prices at Saks for items marked "fake leather"?! But maybe "leather effect" will snag you. Let the buyer beware!

This leather lover has to read promotions closely. I may see a nice looking skirt or pants only to read on and find that it is "leather-like" or something like that. Now I have to look for "leather effect" in the descriptions. Thanks for the heads up.

I STILL love therm "Pleather"....it's perfect! Because no matter what it's called, ultimately it's still plastic leather! Now they've just made it more breathable!
