Thank you for the wonderful link!
My few visits to Chicago were very memorable!
I wanted desperately to see the "hippie" place that was famous back in the 60's? Old town?
Did get to see it! Of course, the ☮️ era had passed by then, but I do remember getting a piece of jewelry that was a bracelet/ring combo joined with a chain, reminiscent of that era!
And there was a trip in high school with a club called "History Club"! We stayed in a hotel that overlooked Grant Park and rode the elevator up and down all night!
Then a group of us joined arms and walked Grant park after we were explicitly told not to! These kids were considered "nerds" and how it loved them!
Funny fact: our "leader" (President of History Club) was also President of Young Republicans in our city. When I caught up with him not long ago, he had "converted" to Democratic/living in Guatemala/adopted a young daughter/wearing tribal robes. NOT AT ALL THE SAME GUY! 😂 😆 😝

What a great story! Old Town is still here, alive and well. DH and I would take the kids to a local "bar," with peanut shells on the floor, and listen to jazz on Sundays ... the place had great cheeseburgers! ... That hotel on Michigan Avenue is the Conrad Hilton, still kicking and looks well preserved in its old age.
