Would you feel the same way if a loved one passed under questionable circumstances? So, people should move on because Joan understood and accepted risks since she underwent multiple procedures? Jeez.

Re: New CNN Report Today 9/16 On Joan's Death: Link to CNN Attached for Authentication

So, everything I'm reading here is exactly (w/the exception of the 'selfie which is pretty awful) what has been reported in news outlets for over a week. Unauthorized biopsy, third attempt at scoping/biopsy causing the laryngospasm/causing closing of the airway/causing heart to stop.

And, my own personal FIRM view - THERE WAS NO COMPETENT PERSON IN ATTENDANCE EXPERIENCED (ON A DAILY BASIS) WITH EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

An experienced anesthesiologist - someone who's worked in ORs and ERs - could have handled this. Not a doc - and staff - rarely exposed to emergency situations - no matter how well equipped or trained. There is nothing like EXPERIENCE. If people are NOT skilled in these issues - that skill being honed over the years through EXPERIENCE - they are NOT going to be as successful when disaster strikes..

Further, that doc Konovin/Korovin - her name was reported on a Medical board I read last week. She deals with throat/voice issues for numerous celebs, visits them backstage, etc. She's a big deal.

So, all the hoo ha that people were naysaying is being repeated. And, is true, as far as I'm concerned. This isn't rocket science.

What happened to Joan is everyday stuff and happens everywhere - and whether the patient survives or doesn't depends a great deal on the people in attendance.

Joan should have been in hospital. And the doc who sent her to this clinic wasn't thinking straight. Anyone 81 years IS still 81 years old - and should be in hospital for any procedure requiring sedation.

Period.

Your right Joan should have been in a hospital IF SHE CONSENTED TO A BIOPSY but she went in there to have a endoscopy. It was that doctor according to reports decided to take it upon herself to perform a surgery in a clinic she wasn't authorized to work in and the other doctor who allowed her to do it is just as bad. So a selfie is NOT the only thing done wrong here. That woman was not a staff member at that clinic, are you saying doctors can walk into any office or hospital and just perform surgeries on whoever? Or perform surgeries without a consent form? If that's what your saying then we need to reevaluate who we give medical licenses to! Also to your comment on Joan being 81 and that was a factor your wrong. Many many specialists with more of a degree than you say differently. PERIOD!

Thanks for the info & update, GREATLY. I'm watching it on CNN now and it's so sad. I also can relate to how you feel regarding this, I've had the same happen here.

Thanks BigOrangeKitty...as you know, it's the most frustrating and shocking situation to be in. If this is true, it is appalling and sickening. It's hard enough to lose someone unexpectedly, but to know that it was a mistake or incompetence is just unbearable. You can rationalize natural causes when an elderly person passes, but not something that should never have occurred and contributed to the trauma.

If she never signed a consent for a biopsy, that is a huge violation of patient rights laws.

Your exactly right! And the report is this doctor actually stopped during the non consented surgery to take the selfie. Not before or after but during the surgery. Regardless when it was taken its terrible and a violation on so many levels.

TMZ is now reporting the doctor has said No Selfie was taken nor a biopsy but when asked if any other surgery was performed there was no response. According to Cnn staff workers at the clinic claim they saw her snap a selfie during the procedure.
