Never been on a cruise....suggestions?

I have never been on a cruise and this year, my sixteen year old daughter and I will be taking a cruise to Mexico with a group of women friends and their daughters. I'm already wondering what to pack and don't want to take more than I will need/wear. I've heard that most people take too much. I am hoping to hear from those more traveled than I...about what's a must have and what I should just leave at home!

As a side note...I know I haven't been here long, but I just wanted everyone to know how much I'm enjoying this Forum. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}
