Re: Need Style Tips for Pear-Shaped Body

@RileyParker

So nice to have you with us.

You did't mention your weight, height, or if you need high necks because of sun, so I am being more general.

Focus on the upper part of your body.

Style the top with your main color, keep the bottom more plain.  V, U, and Square necks are good.

Wear interesting jackets.

Bottoms shouldn't be form fitting, a slightly wider leg takes emphasis off of the hips.

Pants tight at the ankle puts extra emphasis on the curve of the hip.

Wear anything on the top that creates a vertical line; a scarf, a 30" necklace, an open jacket is 2 vertical lines.

A long vest is 2 vertical lines.

Skirts- A line and gathered skirts in soft, not crisp fabric work well; linen does well in summer.

If you can, chose more pointed shoes or almond toe.

Talbots

Anthropologie (They have great jackets)

The pant ankle below should be a little wider than these.

Of course, all pears are not "plus" sizes, but the same principle applies.

Please let me know if I can help more.

@GinaV24

Many thanks.

When I retired from teaching, I became a professional stylist.  You can see me in Outfit Of The Day in the Fashion thread.

I am an hour glass, but we still deal with hips.

It is what it is.
