Re: Navy handbag with black pants ?

Thanks, everybody, for sharing your opinions.  Admittedly, I am not a very fashion-savvy person so the black pants are either black dress pants or yoga pants with a plain top.  I love the navy color.... but, I may not be fashionable enough to pull it off without it looking like I got dressed in the dark.  Meaning, what I usually wear may not be polished enough to pull it off.

But you might be convincing me I could do it!  (Like I said, navy is always a color I've loved - just never really wear.)

Thanks again to all of you.  It was helpful getting your input!!

I like the combination of navy and black - actually have a suit which combines the colors. There is something very chic and fresh about those colors together.   I will say that I do not have, nor have I ever owned a navy bag, or shoes for that matter (same with white)

I personally like navy with black when the navy has a true blue hue.  For an example: if you are familiar with Isaac's navy you can definitely see the blue in it. For that type of navy, I find it no different than using any other color for accessories when the outfit is black.

@Julie_23 - In my opinion, you can definitely wear a navy bag with black pants.  I consider navy a neutral.  Navy is one of my favorite colors and I wear navy and black together all the time.

Re: Navy handbag with black pants ?

I think black goes with anything..so if you are wearing black..a navy bag would be fine..If the top isn't black then maybe a different bag but that is just me..if you think it looks fine...go for it..

I have a few navy pants in my wardrobe for work Idressy) and have yet to find a navy shoe/bootie etc that works for me..so right now I do black ..and I have a overjacket that has black sleeves and the rest is navy..so they are paired in the fashion industry together lol..

I am not a print mixer. I cannot mix prints..they just look too busy to me...we all have our own quirks!

I remember my grandmother saying "pink and green must never be seen.." LOL...

my opinon is that navy and black go together as does brown and black.  you can wear any color with black..the only one i don't like is yellow and black.  even though it works, i feel like a bumble bee!

Just out of curiosity, do you think a navy handbag goes ok with black pants?

I know there aren't any rules, per se, to fashion; however, I honestly only wear black pants and wonder if perhaps navy is not a versatile color.  It is a darker navy - but up against the black pants, you can definitely see the color difference.

I know it's a trivial question.  Thanks for any opinions!

yes you can

Nothing about fashion is trivial.  A dark navy is fine with black pants.  I wear black all the time, usually wear a bag that compliments rest of my outfit,

if I am not using my black bag.

I wear the Clark's navy with black pants because they don't look as harsh as black shoes.

Black shoes have a way of saying "look at me" and take away from the outfit.  MHO

If you are uncomfortable with a navy bag and black pants you can always use a navy scarf  or navy jewelry to pull it together.
