I bought two of a maxi down coat that I love. Both are black - the only color it came in. The coat has an attached inner vest, raised collar, hood, knit inserts in the sleeve openings, and it falls to my ankles. The front zips and snaps which I like because if the zipper should fail, it would still be usable (I actually had this happen with a different coat). It keeps me warm in the coldest weather, but doesn't feel heavy. This is the best down coat I have ever owned.

I'll buy multiples of the basics...multiples upon multiples, which I'm going to cut down on. I would consider multiples of most things except things, especially tops and dresses, that are distinct...a pattern or embellishment or embroidery, for example.
For me, YMMV, I don't want to wear the same distinctive top in another color, and I do notice when someone else does. I don't think those people lack imagination so much as I think it's just so darned hard to find the perfect item, one that fits, that you love, that's a perfect color and price and fabric. I get that.

Put my name in the "bizarre and lacking imagination" column. When I was working, if I found a pair of slacks or a pencil skirt that fit me perfectly, I'd buy several colors. Slacks and skirts can look very different when worn with different tops, scarves, jewelry, etc. Shoes! -- I have small, narrow feet and it's difficult to find shoes that fit me. When I found dress shoes that fit, I bought every color they had.

If I love something, I definitely buy in multiples. I do not feel bad about it. LOL

I see I am not alone when it comes to purchasing multiples in different colors of an item I like. I just bought three pairs of leather leggings: navy, burgundy, and brown. It's a good idea if you can afford it as it allows so many options to wear.

Sometimes if the item really fits well and looks good on me I buy it in more than one color. My problem is duplicates. Sometimes I just forget and end up with more than one of the same color.

I have many things in multiples....I own several maxi dresses in different colors and each has a different pattern BUT the cut/style is the same...got them from Evine...liked one so much purchased 2 more.
I also like several blazer sweater button fronts from IM line....3 of them...each a different color...love them.
I could go on but no I don't worry about anyone else noticing if I own multiples of something....if I like/love it then that's all the truly matters to me.

I would buy multiples of just about anything except a distinctive print or pattern. I buy multiple shoes, pants, tops, cardigans, skirts, etc. I know what shapes & styles fit and flatter me so it makes sense to buy things in multiples.

It depends on the item and how unique it is. When I find pants that fit, it's not out of the norm for me to buy them in several colors and 2 or even 3 black.
I know I own a few identical fit and flare dresses from Land's End. 2 are in solid colors and 2 are in prints. They are perfect for my figure, the price was right and I loved them so I bought 4.
OTOH, I received a LOGO cardigan today with chiffon back. I love it and the fit is perfect but I wouldn't buy it in other colors because it's a pretty unique style. That's just me. But who says you have to wear these same items in the same week that people would necessarily remember?
