I was watching Say yes to the dress (yes I was bored) and what I noticed more than anything else was how there does not seem to be a modest wedding dress any more and those consultants don't even seem to advise the brides about what looks good and what looks awful. There was one rather heavy bride with huge breasts who was falling out of everything they tried on her and then the remainder of the dress was mermaid style and she was way too heavy for that style. Don't they make dresses anymore that are not strapless tops and mermaid bottoms? The dress the girl finally chose looked awful on her. Totally accented her overweight. Then the other bride was very nice and thin but had no chest at all and they kept putting her in those strapless gowns. She looked like a child playing dress up - the dresses were overwhelming her. Her Mom kept saying no no no - finally the Mom stepped in and picked a nice knee length dress with a strapless underlayer but the top lace layer had slight sleeves and came up a bit higher - the girl loked so much better, and did chose that dress. I just kept thinking - why don't the consultants tell them what looks better on them? When I bought my wedding dress the consultant was very knowledge able and helpful. I am very fair and a natural redhead - she started out telling me I should wear ivory and not white.
