Re: Memorial Day "Sales" Are Dissapointing!!!

@Malcontent, I am truly very sorry you lost your dear son in war.  I have never lost a child.  I can’t begin to understand how you feel, but realize I do honor your son and his sacrifice.

And I honor you and your family.

That said, as I have come to know @ECBG here, she does not mean to insult.  She also lost a son.  She was undoubtedly looking to snag a few bargains online, which does not mean her Memorial Day will be consumed just shopping.  The actual day is several days away, and I am confident she will be honoring all those fallen for our country, including your son.

Again, to say honoring your sacrifice sounds trite or hollow,  but I truly believe the vast majority truly do.  I would love to hear about your son, the story of his life.  I am sure he was a wonderful young man.  All my best.

@Malcontent  We are a military family, and we are so very sorry for your loss. We attended a Memorial Service last year for a young man who also lost his life in Afghanistan. He had a wife and two very young children. I think of that sad day often, the pain his family was experiencing, and about the sacrifices so many have made. That should certainly be our main focus for Memorial Day. Prayers for your family.

Extra off of clearance, items that have a long life on the floor already, have about minus zero appeal to me.

Memorial Day is all about getting rid of old, already passed over stock.

Color me "bored"!!!  Yawn.....

I want current stock that is appealing!  Not something to put away for 7-8 months!

@ECBG   I purchase linens/towels, etc. at these sales. Stores are desperate to clear out current merchandise like clothing. Most people have been ordering online leaving B&M stores fully stocked. Winter things arrive in July. Guess I don't have to tell you that. Q has had mostly clearance for many months, too.

I thought Memorial Day was in remembrance of those who died while serving our country?

@Snowpuppy   I definitely agree, but this year people are anxious to travel and go to the stores...The vaccines loosened up our options.

Didn't EVEN think about towels!  The Biltmore towels I got from Belk last and last and are still beautiful!

Would you please keep an eye out for a black linen jacket in a medium.  I'd love one like the Eileen Fisher white linen jacket, possibly made like a denim jacket I wore the other day.

Enjoy your day!

Wow. You know when you look at the View All Forun Topics it's easy enough for someone not to immediately realize which specific forum they're in. So a fairly new poster made the "mistake" of going off topic and posting in this thread, relaying one of the most significant, devastating, bring to your knees, altering to the core, raw aspects of her existence. Bet she won't make that mistake again.

With all due respect, what fairly new poster are you referencing, because it appears the poster in question has been around for six years and knew exactly what she was responding to. An incredibly sad and devastating loss, but spewing venom at someone who was merely stating disappointment in the usual holiday sales was neither necessary nor helpful.

@ECBG  For what it's worth, I seem to be getting lots of emails and flyers but not seeing much to get excited about either... Not thrilled with what's on sale nor with the supposed discounts...

Picked up these Havaianas today at the sale price of $20 to replace my old pool flip flops
