I saw this cute purple leather skirt on E-Bay for $25 and the look and description lured me into making a purchase. It arrived today, and it is a color I don't have and the size and length are right for me. Big problem. I smell cigarette smoke from it. Looking back on the original write up, there is no mention of it coming from a smoke-free environment. My fault. I should have asked. Anyway, I'm going to keep it, air it out, use Fabreeze on the linig and hope I can get rid of the smell. Would love to wear it this fall/winter. Lesson learned? I hope so. Grrr.

@StylishLady Air it out and then enjoy it!  Several years ago i bought a Brighton organizer purse on the Bay.  Retail was about $165, and I paid about $21.50, including shipping.  It was like new, except it smelled smokey.  It aired out, and I still use it and love it.  It was a great buy!  I bet your skirt was too.

Maybe you should take it to the dry cleaners and ask if there is anything they can do to alleviate the odor? It sounds pretty. Enjoy it!

That is a mistake I have made. I got a faux leather Susan Graver jacket that reeked of smoke. I sprayed the heck out of it with Atmosklear and hung it outside for a few days. It is smoke free.

I hope you have good results with your purple skirt!

Do you have Don Aslett's X-O deodorizer?  I had a Dooney bag that smelled fishy.  Everytime I thought about it, I gave it a spritz.  Smell is now gone.

@birkin baby

was it a jacket that came from qvc? if i were you i would call them and let them know you like the jacket, but it smells like smoke and you want to get it dry cleaned. maybe they will pay for the cleaning or give you a discount. i had a problem with a linea jacket that was beyond wrinkled and they gave me a credit to pay for a professional pressing at the dry cleaners.

My  jacket was from EBay. Luckily I keep a gallon of Atmosklear,LOL.  Now I ask if it is a no smoking  home if it isn't listed on the eBay description.
