I hope Joan had smart attorneys drawing up her will or else lots of that $$$ will go to pay taxes.

Forming a family trust is all you have to do. Most people know that with much less money than Joan. Anyone who does not have their will drawn up that way is a fool, or they just do not have any money to worry about.

It just shows what a real, down to earth, wonderful grandmother she was! {#emotions_dlg.wub} Beautiful picture!

Joan looked amazing! No one would have thought she was in her 70's back then. She was such a cool and classy lady. Cooper was a lucky boy to have her in his life. I never got to meet my grandparents. Joan was quite a lady!

They probably asked because it has been reported recently that because of the fact that there was no autopsy (Jewish tradition) and the facts brought out by the NYC Health Dept, the only way for Melissa to find out the definitive cause of death is to sue. This would force depositions and facts to come out. Sad, but true.

This may be Jewish tradition but the N.Y. medical examiner did an autopsy on Joan to investigate her death an to insure that the procedure she had done was done properly and was not the cause of her death, and the report was made public. I read it.

Please forgive me for shouting but all evidence SO FAR indicates that THEY KILLED HER MOTHER. I don't care how much money Melissa has in her wallet or by bequest, what she does not have is any other way to find out what transpired. If the evidence obtained during the litigation proves otherwise, this medical practice will be vindicated and Melissa and her family will know that their beloved Joan was not a victim of medical malpractice. If the evidence obtained during the litigation proves medical malpractice, this medical practice will rightly be assessed the cost of causing the death of a vital and successful woman and I predict her daughter will donate the proceeds.

Wow, 71 there as it was ten years ago. Anyone besides me impressed? Joan seemed in great shape in that picture.

Why would anyone be so personal, nosy, and uncouth enough to ask her about a lawsuit?

That gives me chills simply because it is so horrific ! What in the world is wrong with American's today ?

Who in their right minds believe they have a right to ask her such personal questions and deserve an answer ?

Because they are the media and that is their job.

TMZ IS REPORTING THE FOLLOWING REGARDING THE LAWSUIT:

Joan Rivers' daughter Melissa has retained a law firm that will file a major lawsuit over her mom's death ... TMZ has confirmed.

We're told the firm -- Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz will file a medical malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit against the clinic where Joan stopped breathing and the doctors who were involved.

Our sources say Melissa retained the firm Tuesday but the suit won't be filed for around a month.

We're told letters are going out today to the various people involved in the fatal medical procedure, telling them NOT to destroy records involving Joan's treatment. The lawyers also want phone logs and other documents.

As we reported ... one of the driving forces for Melissa is to figure out how her mom died, but in the end, it's a lawsuit over money.
