Wow, I'm back from some errands and thrilled to be allowed to continue our fashion critiques! Thank you moderators and posters!
I'm going to be the lone defender of the gloves-- I think it was a witty nod to the past, and she is sophisticated enough to carry it off.
Michelle the picture of understated elegance, in what looked like a wine silk dress that fit her wonderful figure perfectly. A spot-on outfit for hosting an intimate little coffee or tea gathering. Loved her hair up too, and Melania's upswept do.
I want to know what was in that big Tiffany box! Anyone?

Somebody on TV said silver picture frame

I bet there was a frame in the Tiffany box.

Are they changing before the swearing in?
Is she going to walk in the parade with the heels on? Yikes...

I guess I'm the exception but I don't care for the blue outfit she is wearing at all. It doesn't remind me of Jackie's fashions in any way either.

Jackie Kennedy's were very Chanel.
@QueenDanceALot- I thought Jackie's was Ralph Lauren as well?
I think she wore a lot of Chanel.
Those little boxy double breasted jackets with the pocket detail.
@QueenDanceALot- i was thinking of the dress with the matching hat and gloves; her suits did look like Chanel but I think she wore many designers; I seem to recall Oleg Cassini being associated with her clothes and of course, Oscar de la Renta....I wasn't too much into fashion then ....probably Ralph Lauren was too young for her originals but I think he has designed dresses and suits reminiscent of Jackie's style, presently ....this suit does remind me of Jackie's style, the beautiful gloves and shoes....the blue
Oh, i know she wore lots of designers.
I thought you were talking about Melania's suit today, which has RL written all over it. And Jackie's suits (in the 60's) were very Chanel.
@QueenDanceALot- I think Jackie favored blue....I am glad Melania has chosen designers linked to US fashion...I know she favors D&G ....I also loved Ivanka's choices...the green Oscar D and Carolina Herrera, gown...stunning
Reem Acra, who designed her dress for last nite, is Lebanese I believe.
I don't really care where the designers are from, as long as they design beautiful things!

Very attractive. I understand the gloves as it's cold in D.C. this time of year.
Ralph Lauren did well.

@Goldengate8361 - I agree - his tie should have matched her outfit.
The color red is a power color!
