Macy's Credit Card...Now Yrly Fee

Hello recenlty I recieved the new CC from Macy's with the chip in it.  On the paper work it says a $25 enrollment fee required each yr to enroll in Thanks For Sharing.

Anyone else notice this?  I admit I am confused as there never was a yrly fee for a Macy's CC...I only opened it to get the coupon's/discounts but now I think I will not activate this new chip card.

Thanks for sharing is for charity.  You pay 25 and you will receive spendable cash every time you use the card.  I do not shop at Macy's anymore so I would call to make certain of the policy.  Things change quickly.

Re: Macy's Credit Card...Now Yrly Fee

No longer have a Macy Cr.cd after 40+ years.  I remember participating in Thanks for Sharing for many years: whatever the "initiation" for it was, I remember getting it back as a credit on my next bill or getting that amount as a coupon on my first Sharing purchase.

Maybe its still the case, just not adequately or clearly presented ????  If not, then I'd cancel the card.  There are many other credit cards out there and you can still get Macy coupons in the newspaper or even just ask at the cash register if they have an extra.

i hope they haven't changed for the worse.  I stopped doing most of my clothing shopping there because of the limited selection.  As I've expressed to them in various forums, women with disposable income are finding more at Chico's than their store.  This was several years ago.

Can you keep the card without enrolling in Thanks for Sharing?  As I understand, Thanks for Sharing gives you 10% rewards for Macy's and macys.com purchases.  So if it costs $25 to join, you'll have to spend $250 to get your money back.  Not a bad idea from a business perspective - giving people an incentive to spend more.

That only applies to Thanks for Sharing, a charity program which you have to enroll in to participate. So far, I've haven't done that.

There is no annual fee for my Macy's credit card.

What is Thanks for Sharing?

I'd call Macys CS and check this out.  I haven't seen my new card yet, but I'm assuming I can use it without any fee if I don't want to join Thanks for Sharing.  Nothing wrong with Sharing, but I like to pick my own charities as much as possible.

@jlkz -  WE agree on Macys and now I've pretty much left Chcio's also.  When I compare their newer offerings with what I used to buy from Chico's, there is just no comparison in quality - well, maybe Travbelers are still pretty much the same, but I have very little need for that kind of dressing. The lesser fabric quality makes me sad because I still like their colors and many of their styles.
