In most cases Faux fur is made from petroleum , an oil based product. I would follow specific instructions on the particular item with faux fur!!. I have had disasterous results with faux fur trim on the grands stuff. OMG, the night before my granddaughters New York trip for school, I decide I would just "freshen up" her Hollister cloth coat with fur trim around the cuff and the hoodie. I dampened the sponge to spot clean it. It clumped..looked awful ,then I thought well, I will just throw it in a dryer, low, low heat for 5 mins. No way!! It melted the fur in spots, melted it! Some spots were melted to the binding, other spots melted together like plastic! Incredible. I don't think that stuff is made to be cleaned. But dry cleaners have a very special method of freshening, or cleaning faux fur. My granddaughter still laughs about having to go go to New York with her coat that looked "flea bitten", LOL. Please follow manufacturers instructions, in this case they are for a reason. Either that or call Dennis Basso's company and ask.
