Re: Long length dresses for summer are really appealing to me now.

[ Edited ]

I have dresses and skirts for summer.  I find them to be much cooler than 90% of the pants available.  No maxis, only mid calf or just below the knee.  And as a previous poster mentioned, hold the material up to the light to see how sheer it is.  If the material is so heavy that it cannot be seen through, it's too heavy for summer, IMO.  I always wear a half slip under my dresses.  The skirts are a bit heavier so a slip is not needed.

I wear a lot of dresses/skirts in the summer and I have a couple of slips of different lengths...I don't have any cotton slips, I think mine are nylon.

I wear a lot of maxi dresses in the summer.  I haven't owned a slip in probably 30 years.  I don't buy very sheer  dresses.  I wear slip shorts under all my dresses and skirts.  You get the coverage of a slip and they prevent chafing and sweating.

The younger the gal the shorter the dress!

Cute, cute, cute

At my event, I also saw many dresses and pantsuits. I was in the south, and the weather was gorgeous for these outfits.

I find it difficult to drive with a long skirt.    I need to hike it up to my knees (!!)

I feel the same @Desertdi . I also prefer showing my legs and long dresses are hot in the summer.

I'm 5'9" so most maxis aren't super long on me, lol. I live in an exceedingly hot area and find maxi dresses to be my go to choice in the summer. I wear skimmies underneath or an equivalent. However, when temps reach 115-120 nothing is going to be cool and refreshing.

I think dresses of all kinds are very popular right now and are a great warm weather alternative to shorts, jeans, yoga pants, etc.!  I personally cannot wear short dresses because my legs are not good and I can't tan and self-tanners break me out.  So, I have a few longer dresses for summer that I do wear and I find them comfortable and cool!  I don't have any that are see through, so I don't have that issue.  I would think that if you looked on amazon you could probably find what you're looking for.  It's hard to find slips of any kind these days in stores - at least I think.  I hope you find what you are looking for!

Dresses are never appealing to me. Long or short I feel much more comfortable wearing long (shorts style) panties under a dress so bare thighs don't touch when it's hot out.

Last time I wore a dress was at my daughter's wedding two years ago. I don't plan on wearing another for a very long time.
